| This is where you should post your application responses, questions found in the Getting Started thread. Here's an example of a completed questionnaire, completed by the Duchess: OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle?Duchess Aislin @Sorall_Loskannen 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?I'm a veteran roleplayer. I've done online RP since Neverwinter Nights, and have stuck with it for 10 years. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 5 PvP (World vs. World): 5 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 3 Crafting: 3 Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?I'd have to say that I like a mix of adventure and RP, which is why the PvE/PvP choices match RP. I'm not one of those people who wants to sit in the tavern every night and watch the soap operas of people's RP. I like to play the game in-character if I can, and run (or rp walk) through content with people that also like to take it in stride and play it out IC. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? Usually at night after 8:00 PM (EST) 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?I'm generally around very often. Not necessarily all-day stints, though those do happen. Certainly not casual. Gaming is a hobby. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?Yes I do. I enjoy leading groups through content and organizing PvP groups as well as RP. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?I think it's a good thing that members have to take part in the roleplaying aspect of the guild, because that's one of the main focuses of the guild. I also believe there should be OOC involvement, where players are just willing to help and be there for each other. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? Zero (0). There are so many things that are possible because of it, and you can use it in so many ways, yet if you try to divide it, it's going to upset you. If not 0, then definitely 4. 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes I do. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. The last guilds I was in, and with which I am still currently involved are Shadow Company (AoC), and Task Force Argo (STO). I've had a generally good time with both, and I like the definite comeraderie in each. The biggest complaint I would have is the occasional excessive growth spurt, which can sometimes cause a guild to go through abnormal growing pains and lose focus of its main ideas/themes at times. This isn't usually a big issue, but it is notable wherever you go. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.I hope for it to become an established, and independent community in its own right, with the benefit of being part of a broader community within the game. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy.I hope to bring a solid RP background and some interesting times (in a good way) to the players in the guild, and help them really get their characters to come to life, as well as being known as a capable group to run game content and World PvP. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.Main: Mealla Aislin Alts: Undecided, but definitely on the way. 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?Mealla is the Duchess of the Duchy of Corussa, and will be leading the people as the head of this guild. She is an elementalist with a preference for daggers. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)I hope she is going to be the leader of the guild. If she's not, then I know I did something wrong! 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparant and real), race, and gender.Mealla is female, age 26, and looks to be in her early twenties. She has long, dark mahogany/brown hair, and violet/indigo eyes. She is human, and fairly tall for a woman, with an athletic/thin build. (More detail to be had in her Bio) 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.Mealla was born in the Duchy of Corussa, to Duke Geralt and Duchess Elaina Aislin, making her part of the nobility. She began instruction in use of her abilities as an elementalist when she was young, along with schooling in courtly protocol and etiquette, but her entire world seemed to come crashing down when her father's advisors turned out to be corrupt, and allowed a centaur attack to take the duchy in exchange for being granted rulership over the lands while paying a heavy tribute. They too, were in turn double-crossed, and swung from the walls of the keep along with Mealla's parents and older brother, leaving her the heir to the lands. When she turned 24, she began work to organize to retake the lands. Now, at the age of 26, she gathers her strengh, her supporters, and those who wish to forge a new life and prepares to make her move. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.Mealla is good, leaning toward grey at times. She has herself made her way through privateering against centaurs and other enemies of the Krytan throne as she's built up support for her own expedition. Once, while leading a column of mercenaries against a group of bandits, she found that some of the young men of a nearby village had thrown in with the bandits against their own home. She had five of their ringleaders hung as an example to the rest, and turned the remainders over to the villagers for whatever punishment they saw fit. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.Mealla is trying to reclaim her family's land, and help people of the overcrowded Divinity's Reach build new lives. 8 ) Following the above question, each character will have a unique 'joining story' RPed out for their induction into the Duchy. This might be a chance encounter in the wild, where members of the Duchy teamed up with/saved/were saved by your character, or a swapping of stories over ale. Do you have any 'cool ideas' on what your story should be? This will be a joint work!See the RP threads for details about what's happening in Mealla's part of the story. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Although raised to be a duchess, and educated with courtly protocol, Mealla has often embraced the ways of a common soldier in her quest to reclaim her family's land. This has put her in a unique position to empathize with those she will lead in the future. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?Mealla is an optimistic realist. She understands the most likely outcome could be utter disaster, but does not balk at this. She has a sense of humour, and loves to laugh, but her position often leaves her feeling the need to be reserved and quiet. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)Yes. 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know? Not at this moment. Hopefully the character and RP will develop a life of its own over time.

| 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you? Daimas of Caminion @shoopdanwoop In STO Quaen did.
2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore? I would not say I'm new, or a veteran, but I'm adept atleast at being a roleplayer. My most common current roleplaying is on STO with TFA, I have in the past being on Neverwinter Nights, Halo PC (If you can believe it) Garry's mod, Half Life 2 Serious Roleplay and from that private Minecraft servers RP. I am familier with Tyrian lore
3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much) Roleplaying: 4 PvE (dungeons, general): 5 PvP (World vs. World): 2 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 2 Crafting:4
Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite? PvE has always been my friend for most MMO's, Guild Wars is likely my best example i'm rarely in guilds, and when I am, its just to help IRL friends first start up, I've always been more for soloing my experience, though that will be harder in GW2.
4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? As i'm currently on a summer holiday from college, pretty much every day, from september and continuing my education, off and on weeknights possibly, but Fridays/saturdays are the safest I think, and I'm GMT and currently BST
5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not? Gaming is a hobby, I could never do it all the time, but I try to be on when I can.
6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works? I've never been skilled with hosting, atleast in terms of RP, but i'm always up for a challenge.
7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system? I think it's and interesting idea, it's not one you see often, or at all, atleast together, but I think it will show who new players, can really go to for help, in both aspects.
8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? Pi, I used to be able to remember it to 15 digits
9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Indeed.
10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked.
The latest I joined, would be some HL2 RP, I think but has since been stopped, they had a friendly and helpful set of admins, and skill or experience at RP was monitered for progressing the ranks, I enjoyed being a citizen, applying on the forums to be a metro-cop, and going through a whole set of training, and then only some passed, and allowed for another chance, after the next recruiting time happened. In text it sounds slightly boring, but it really was a great experiance.
11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy. To thrive and really become known in the RP community.
12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. A supporting side to PvE, and to have a friendly face that can help people when possible.
IC Portion
1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.
Daimas of Caminion (Day-mas Cam-in-ee-on) -main Oogi (Pronounced how you would say Oogie)
2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?
Daimas is an Elementalist, mostly using Staffs, he fights, but prefers to stick to his own path, helping those who need it, but mostly sticking to his own needs.
Oogi is a yet to be fully designed character he will be an elementalist, but further that I have yet to get.
3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)
From reading the roles in the duchy post, Daimas I've very much yet to think, I believe RPing as is, and leading to whichever path, is the best idea. Oogi, like all Asuran is dedicated to the eternal alchemy, so something along those lines, possibly a place in the the whitespire conservatory if it is remade.
4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender.
Daimas is of average height and build, Jet black shoulder length hair, with green eyes looking around 25 is actually 27 he is human, and male.
5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.
Daimas was born to unknown parents in the shining blade, he was taken to be raised in Divinitys reach to nobility, he studied the elements under popular masters, as of the current time, his actions have led him to defence of citizens in queensdale, from centaurs and bandits.
6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.
Morally grey, during a pursuit of bandits, he and the group he was leading found the families of bandits in caves, rather than letting them to the same fate as their kin, he allowed them to run, but with warning of return to be handelled the same as the attackers.
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.
A place to live, and meet new people during his on going life in the other territories, namely that for Perfecting his skill with the elements, to one day become a master, and teacher.
This will be a joint work!
Such as it is a joint work, encounters could be dictated by both sides, though I'd like to think something to do with his Elementalist skills could be involved, a helping encounter as said in the question, or simple a passing by of skill demonstration.
9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character.
Daimas doesn't drink alcohol. Oogi has a talent for making experiments explode.
10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?
Daimas talks when he needs to, but have long times of silence when in thought. He trys to be fair to everyone. Oogi is grouchy when working, and always calls others Bookah, unless he really respects them.
11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.) Indeed
12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?
Oogi will be more developed for launch on the 25th August |

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?Ashford - referred from the guildwars2roleplayers.com recruitment thread. Apparently 'Ashford' is already taken as a username. I'll apply to register here with something similar. 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?Started RPing with WoW at launch, and on-and-off on various MMOs since then. My GW2 lore I'd rate at 'above average,' will probably be substantially larger upon launch as I'm devouring any GW2 material I can get my hands on to stave off the beta withdrawals. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 5 PvP (World vs. World): 3 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 2 Crafting: 2 Values are relative. In absolute terms they'd all be 5, I anticipate losing a lot of time to this game. Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?PvE: Wanderlust. RP: Looking forward to GW2 because it might be the first mainstream MMO that enriches RP as much as RP enriches it. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? +8 UTC, opposite sides of the clock to this guild's base. Given my working hours, in PDT times my weekday window will be 23:00 onwards; weekends are uber-flexible. 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?I invest a lot of time into gaming, although the effective time with the guild may be limited due to time zones. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?I have experience in leadership with PvE and RP events, and would be happy to share that experience if/once a good friendship with the guild is cultivated. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?I don't believe guild leaders should be bound with policy, so I would suggest that the advancement policy be a guideline and that the guild leader have final discretion (if that isn't already the case). My opinion: Guild leaders having full authority requires trust from the members. It might not be democratic but if it works the guild has a very strong foundation of trust, and in my experience it guarantees a healthy guild. If the trust wasn't there to begin with, no amount of checks and balances will prevent eventual drama. That said, I believe myself to be a team player and can work with whatever structure is decided upon. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? Phi, a.k.a. the golden ratio. It creates beauty, strength and harmony. 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes, and I support that policy. I hope it includes IC passive-aggressive attention-seeking behaviour. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. That was on SWTOR. The guild leader was strong, but had a friend who was effectively 2ic despite having no intrest in RP and showed a lack of wisdom and patience in dealing with guild matters, and that cost the guild dearly. There were some good guildmates and some excellent PvE-RP, but the RP community on the server was stillborn and the guild's concept wasn't able to stand up without interaction with others. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.Hopes: Recognition, success. Perhaps enough that the server's RP community would recognize the guild's claim to a patch of land on the world map. Expectations: Maturity. The guild concept is really sound and I can see myself enjoying its presence on the server whether I'm an outsider or insider. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. That depends on how much time allows. I hope time will be generous; I think the concept of the guild is very promising, but I should make no promises in the meantime. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.Octavia Ashford -main Septimus Ashford 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both? They are brother and sister, descendants of Ascalon nobility, though the only remaining proof of this is Septimus' signet ring. Octavia (Ranger) has a passion for hunting, and while she spends a lot of time outdoors she cleans up remarkably well and knows how to conduct herself in court. Septimus (Guardian) is nearly 15 years older than his sister. He has a much smaller ego and a much larger sense of duty. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)Octavia would fit in as a citizen, albeit a social climber. She doesn't "work"... she refers to her income from hunting as 'prizes' rather than 'earnings'. Septimus would welcome any job that aligns with his vocation as a free lance, he would apply for a job that reflects the family's station but his expectations are low. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender.(can't post links, so: munrohk.com slash gw2 slash octavia.jpg Well-groomed, elegant composure, Appears late 20s, actual 30. In Ferengi terms: hew-mon female with clothes. Amber eyes run in the family. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. The Ashfords are hardly unique as exiled nobility. As is the nature of nobility, there are many high houses clinging to the heritage of kingdoms long fallen. The Ashford claim doesn't exactly stand out, and with Kryta having to tread carefully in its relations with the Black Citadel an Ascalonian house can hardly expect support from the Krytan throne. Octavia's brother has no offspring, which makes her heir to the family estate. She has no unrealistic expectations. Recently she's been content with a large town house and the freedom to hunt big game. However when she heard murmurings about a movement to re-establish the Duchy of Corussa, her curiousity was piqued. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.Octavia is morally grey. Before being asked to lend her support to the defense of Shaemoor, she had never killed a sentient/humanoid. She soon discovered that hunting centaurs, and eventually people, was not very different to hunting animals. It brought the thrill of hunting dangerous prey to a new level for her. Her respect for law and feudal heirarchy keeps this in check. She can be quite generous to those less privelidged than her and, despite the absence of condescension, those with a predisposition toward disliking nobility might take issue with the fact that she seems to place her pets on the same level as her 'lessers'. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind. She sees swearing fealty to the Duchy as a better option than maintaining the family's fealty to Ascalon. Her brother would need more convincing due to his sense of loyalty. This will be a joint work!Octavia's curiousity about the Duchy would prompt her to track down and size-up its members, particularly the Duchess. She'd want to observe them either in a social setting or in the wilds, or both. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Octavia's approach to society mirrors her approach to the wilderness: Understand and respect it, know when to bend it or bend with it, and most of all enjoy it. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet? Her town friends would call her a lady, her hunting lodge friends would call her a lioness, and her enemies would call her a fascist bitch. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)Kamehamehokay. 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?If the guild is already meeting its quota of blue-bloods, I don't mind Octavia getting 'demoted'. |

| OOC Portion 1 ) My handle is Viktor Raycard, same as the character I intend to apply with.2 ) I would say veteran, I have been roleplaying for about seven years in MMO’s. Mainly, Star Wars Galaxies. I would say a newer rper, because I am not used to roleplaying in a fantasy environment, or the Guild Wars universe. However, I do believe I should be able to adapt well enough.3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 5PvE (dungeons, general): 4PvP (World vs. World): 3PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 3Crafting: 4 I have always played MMO’s for the roleplay and less for the actual gaming, however I would love to give every aspect a try at the least!4 ) I live in the central United States (-6 GMT?), and I have a hectic schedule (College, Work, Family), so it would really be whenever I have a chance. 5 ) I would consider myself a casual player, most deffinently. I would also consider myself something of a heavy Roleplayer – it tends to take the lead on my time. 6 ) Back on Star Wars Galaxies, I was an officer in two guilds, and co-led another with a friend. Not including the guild I lead for a year, to say the least I absolutely love hosting events and tagging along with others. 7 ) I believe this is actually one of the better systems out there, because officers really do need to be online and be active. If an officer is only online say, two days out of the week for an hour or so – that really cannot do. In order for a guild to stand the test of time, the leaders need to be online a reasonable amount – as most people lose interest if they are not. Just as well, in-character actions equal in-character reactions. If someone is doing a lot for the free state, then they should be recognized for it.8 ) I have never been one for math, however I would say zero. No matter what you do, everything returns to an even playing field. 9 ) I completely understand and agree with it – we are all here to have fun, at least I am. We all love roleplay and I have seen OOC drama dissolve great roleplay before and truly, it is a great shame and I don’t want to see it occur anymore. 10 ) It was truly a large guild, and one that I greatly admired. Honestly? It is what got me into GW2 Roleplay and persuaded me to purchase the game. However, drama from people that shouldn’t have it really turned me off from the whole guild. 11 ) I would love for the idea to really take off and gather some good attention from the community. I honestly had the idea of doing the exact same thing, but with little time to devote to leading a guild or project, I’d rather support an already up and coming one. I really just expect and want some great RP out of it, as it’s been a long time since I had great RP.12 ) I hope to bring a helpful pair of hands, as well as interesting characters and fantastic RP. IC Portion 1 ) I honestly will more than likely only have time for my main character, Viktor Raycard. However with that said, I am considering making an alt in the future for both OOC benefits/adventure as well as to fill an NPC roll within my character story.2 ) OOCly, Viktor will be a Ranger. In-character, it would be something of the same however – there is a bit more to his story then he will even know. Due to these story restrictions, his role as something of a representative of his people would be a later-profression if you will.3 ) What I foresee him undertaking is something of a hunter/mercenary/militia/town guard role, so obviously mostly combat oriented. However, I do plan on expanding him into the political realm as his story progresses forward.4 ) Tan skinned man of medium human height, black curly hair and sharp brown eyes. Looks to be in his late thirties (32), possessing claw scars of the past as well as a tri-angle tattoo on his left hand. From afar, he looks to be a commoner of medium class, but as one get’s closer they begin to notice leather armor beneath the rags.5 ) Viktor hales from House Raycard, a merchant house that ran a non-slave mine just north of Divinity’s Reach. Just as well, they started a settlement (Iiibeca) in the roaming hills of northern Kryta. Viktor himself was the first son of Reynold Raycard, head of House Raycard. However, one day the mine and Iiibeca were found in ruins, and House Raycard nowhere to be found. Viktor himself would then awake in a to-be-chosen location, not knowing anything of his past life. Perfect moment for the Duchy to pick him up into service.6 ) Going by the old DnD system, he would be considered a chaotic-good character. Basically, he is willing to commit ‘bad’ actions in order to achieve good. Likewise, if he knew that a well-liked politician was corrupt, instead of removing him, he would allow him to continue on since his removal would bring a great disturbance to the majority.7 ) Getting Viktor to join up would be rather easy, as since he had been knocked out and unable to really reculent what had occurred in his ‘previous’ life. He would know thath e would need to find a job, that he would need to find purpose in order to keep on course of finding what he seeks of his family history/what happened to them. Plot assistance would be simple, as they could literally find him lying on the streets and offer to help him in assistance for helping them.8 ) As much as I would love to have a ‘cool story’ intro for my character, I know that I would truly enjoy RPing him from when he was ‘weak’ and watching him develop and gain strength. So with that said, they could find him possibly in the wilds, obviously been knocked unconscious and offer to save him in return for his service.9 ) He is both intrigued, but mostly frightened by ‘new’ technology (Guns, engineered golems, etc). Just as well, he has completely lost his memory of his past life and seeks to basically uncover and put together the pieces, with only the tattoo on his wrist as any sort of guide. 10 ) In general, Viktor is a more so quiet character, as he is taking in the world around him. His mind never stops ticking, however after speaking with him (one on one) he opens up.11 ) Completely understand.12 ) I am rather excited to see how this project progresses, being a permanent member or not, I will support it through and through. | |

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?Well, I'm Erfel on the forums. I don't have an @handle yet. Quae referred me. 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?I'd call myself a veteran roleplayer. I've RP'd in WoW, LotRO, DAoC, and EQ2 in terms of MMO's. I also play a lot of D&D and other tabletop RPGs. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 3 PvP (World vs. World): 2 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 1 Crafting: 3 Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?Because I love stories. I love hearing them and telling them and creating them with other people. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? I'm usually online in the early afternoon and mid-evening, Pacific time. 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?I have not historically been a casual gamer. However, I have not historically had projects and work and friends taking up my time, so I would anticipate being "casual" in the future (including GW2). 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works? If I turn out to have the time and energy, hosting events would be something I actively pursue. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?Sounds... fine? As long as I can have fun, advancement doesn't occupy a large portion of my thoughts. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? c, because the closer you get, the fewer problems you have when writing science fiction. 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. The Wayfarers' Guild was my last guild in LotRO. There was a lot of RP, with "campaigns" happening every other month or so. On the other hand, I got frustrated with how those events were run, sometimes. There was never any sense of real danger (which D&D has taught me to want), and most campaigns ended with a deus ex machina. Still, it was regular RP and the beginnings and middles were good. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.I expect to find myself among RPers, and hope that being involved with the Duchy will introduce a new facet to my characters. Honestly, I don't have many expectations, but Quae tells me that the Duchy will be awesome and I trust my friend. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy.Mostly, I hope to be +1 active RPer and add my own flavor to the soup. If time permits, I would like to run events, even campaigns, and generally ensure other members always have something to do/someone to RP with whenever they want. If experience permits, I also try to be one of those helpful people who'll tell you where the briarthorn is and stop by to duo an elite. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application. Erfel,* an Asura and the equivalent of a graduate student in the field of exochthonic sapiology, will be my main. *subject to me getting that name in-game. 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?Mesmer. Erfel is a scholar, and his current project is a longitudinal case study on how humans and other exhochthonic sapiens respond and react to mass exile, with a particular view toward domain retrieval efforts and tactics. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian) Scholar, embedded anthropologist, part-time magician, guy-who-knows-people-in-Rata-Sum. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender. Erfel is a young Asuran man. Beyond that, we'll have to wait until I spend some time fiddling with him in the game's character generation. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.Well, as you know, the Asura don't have such silly things as a rigid caste system, preferring a meritocracy (or idiocracy, as it usually works out), but it is true that Erfel doesn't have the depth of knowledge or long list of successful projects that make a name in Asuran society. That's why he's out studying the Duchy, see, because this research is important, and will help launch his career as one of the foremost sapiologists. Also, you know, this stuff is just fascinating. Anyway, Erfel was born in a province (TBD) near Rata Sum. His parents were simple biologist (one an applied biologist (assassin) and the other an experimental biologist (monster breeder)). Naturally, both his parents were pretty keen on the Asura kicking some ass and taking some names, a position that their son wasn't quite in-line with. Much to their chagrin, their son was, while not a pacifist by any means, a little more contemplative in his dealings with the surface and its denizens. Luckily for him, his parents did love him and were acute enough as progenitors to support him in his decisions, at least the ones they didn't disagree with too violently. So he joined the college of Synergetics, where he was lucky enough to find himself apprenticed to a master who was quite proficient in the young field of exochthonic sapiology (actually, both his parents were synergists as well, and exerted almost all their pull to get him this particular master). After that, it was study, a few small projects, and lots and lots of alchemy (the eternal kind), all leading up to his current project. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.Erfel is, basically, a good guy (although he can be a bit of an ass-he is an Asura after all). He basically likes people and actually respects most members of the other species (even if he doesn't show it). I'm finding it really hard to come up with a morally interesting situation that doesn't seem contrived, but let's say one situation that has probably come up a few times in Erfel's life is having to deal with test subjects (people) who become angry and even violent when they realize they're being manipulated (all for a good cause, of course, even if they don't understand that). In the course of his past research, I would say that Erfel has had to defend himself violently on several occasions, even to the point of killing someone. On the other hand, its those events that have led him to develop his mesmeric powers of misdirection and avoidance. Because he prefers not to kill test subjects when it can be avoided. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.As you may have noticed by now, the current plan is for him to try integrating himself with the Duchy to facilitate his research. This will be a joint work! Not at the moment, no, but I'll keep thinking on it. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Erfel has an effortless knack for looking sharp, and by "effortless" I mean he will staunchly deny how much effort he puts into looking sharp. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?Curious, dignified (he thinks), friendly, and very interested in how people respond to things (to the point of starting things for "testing" purposes). 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)I do. 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?I like to develop characters and relationships over time. For characters, this usually means they start out a little less defined than most. With relationships, this means I usually like to take more time and cover more steps than most. With regards to the Duchy, Quae and I think I'm looking for a longer than usual introduction RP. | |

| OOC PORTION
1 ) What's your forum/@handle?
Nevra@ Neversmile.3167. I’m pretty sure that’s it. Quae brought me here.
2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?
I’d like to say veteran, but it’s been a long time since I’ve done some serious roleplay. I likely have reverted back to nub status in terms of roleplay. Venues: Star Wars Galaxies, pre-CU (NGE was okay): I tended to roleplay quite a bit. It was really easy there, with all that freedom. 2 years here. Accidentally had a hand in turning over almost all of Naboo to the Empire.
World of Warcraft (I know, I know): 3-5 years roleplay in this one. Ran a heavy RP guild on a RPPvP server and was quite well known for it. Tons and tons of roleplay there. Admittedly, the storylines got so convoluted and crazy I couldn’t keep up past a certain point and focused on just running things and/or PvP. Slowly, I dropped out of the RP loop.
Aion: About 4 months of roleplay. Lots of…uh, lots of risqué things going on there. Hide yo kids.
TERA: Only a few months here of roleplay here, combat too engaging.
Second Life (Believe it): Years of actually rather engaging RP here. Usually taking a step aside for other MMOs, but it always remained there for me to come back up until recently.
Aside from all that garbage, some forum RP here and there.
Decently prepared for GW2 and it's lore. Looked up a bit when going through the character creation brainstorming.
3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much) Roleplaying: 4 PvE (dungeons, general): 4 PvP (World vs. World): 4 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 4 Crafting: 4
Eeeyup.
Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite? Favorite out of all of them would probably be… all of them. With GW2, I find myself interested in just about everything. (I expect that wide-eyed wonder to go away fast, don’t you worry). I’m game for anything, but the second it turns professional, I probably start losing interest. PvP may rank slightly higher simply because I PvP as much as I RP, and sometimes, I PvP more than RP. Would even go so far to say that I am rather proficient at it. What can I say? I like to fight unpredictable things and you’d be hard pressed to actually get me to rage. Not to say the PvE is easy and predictable though. But I could go on. But I’ll avoid that because I’m boring to listen to.
4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone?
Mostly afternoons and evenings. Mornings and sometimes late nights will be sparse, as sad as that is to admit. But if I can afford to be around really late, I will. We all like the night, you know.
5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?
Would love to admit I’m casual, but some of the hours I can sink sometimes without realizing it boots me a tad beyond that. Plus, when I’m beaten, I have to stop, appreciate beatdown, and then develop a way to reclaim my dignity! Just up and quitting is so… crudcow.
6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?
If given the opportunity? I’d pass by default. Rather tired of leading things around. At this point, I would prefer to sit back and watch the magic of others. The spotlight and I stopped being friends long ago. That’s not saying I’ll be a wallflower, mind you. But anyway, feel free to direct my fury.
7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?
Fair enough. You get in what you take out.
8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why?
8. Any form of 8. 88. 888. 4 + 4 = 8. Why? 8 is fun to say. Turn it sideways and it’s the symbol for infinite, or funny eyes. Or it’s a zero with a belt! You're even the question number! Oh, 8, you so cray-cray!
9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy?
You know I do.
10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked.
The last guild I was in was one that happened to be in TERA. It was a rather evil aligned guild (I was curious, okay?) and was home to all sorts of mercenaries, evil geniuses, and slave traders. My position in it was that of second-in- command. As the guild secretary, I kept track of every deal made, every person killed, and all the paperwork that needed to be done with it. I was also bossed around like a chump by the guild leader (RP-wise). If something happened, I knew about it, and worked a charismatic magic on the hero guilds that made up the majority of the server. Regardless of how well I spun a tale, we’d always end up in guild vs guild fights out in the middle of nowhere with those do-gooders. And for some reason, they liked trying to break enemy lines to get to me. I didn’t mind any of the above.
As you can probably tell, the guild didn’t come without its share of drama or misunderstandings, even with other guilds. The leader didn’t do much of anything but chat in the OOC channel all day about his fantastic life and his jetskis and fantabulous girlfriend. So I was left to more or less run damage control constantly. I don’t mind folks talking about their life, but when it starts to be okay to ignore the guild you’re supposed to be helping in favor of chatting about your girl’s J-cups, we have ourselves a problem. Appointments with other guilds I set up began to go by without our leader and the events I hosted started to become wrought with this underlying mysterious feeling of impending doom for our guild as our leader urged people to get into Teamspeak to talk about his cat. I guess what I’m trying to say is I am more than willing to chat and talk about problems someone may be having ( I am a psychologist after all. Tell me your secretssss), but when it starts to heavily affect guild duties constantly, I will have to come down on it. I’m sorry you’re depressed your girlfriend left you, Billy, but that was 3 years ago. I’m going to bop you. Whoa, where’d that tangent come from?
11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.
A proper atmosphere that isn't intimidating for any sort. Whether newcomer or...oldcomer. All comers welcome. Comers all day. But not for Billy. He knows what he did.
12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy.
I hope to bring an adequate, if not more, amount of enjoyment to those I come in contact with. (But uh, that depends on the character I am playing.) I also hope to provide a lot of crafted goods. Crafting, crafting.
IC PORTION
1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.
Gylra: Norn Guardian. Nomylla: Sylvari Mesmer
At the moment, I intend to use Gylra, the Guardian for my main. Unless we have too much already.
2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?
Gylra, Guardian. For career, I was hoping to have her be a bodyguard, a very physical one. Also to be a blacksmith. Nomylla, Mesmer. Nomylla would mostly be a tailor, only barely being able to defend herself.
3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)
Since at the moment my main will be a guardian, I believe I’ll be shooting for a Silver Oak position. The first assignment can be as unpleasant or pleasant as ordered.
4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparant and real), race, and gender.
Gylra stands tall as a Norn. She isn’t the tallest of tall, but she’s far from the shortest of short. Her skin, oddly enough, appears to be on the lighter side of the darker skinned Norn. Her eyes are purple, matching the amusing tinge of purple that seems to be her long hair, kept mostly out of her face with a bandana. Her build is typical for a Norn, fit, strong, and battle-hardened, complete with scars. She appears to be in her late thirties.
5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.
Born to a great hunter and his powerful wife, Gylra’s childhood was not so different than just about every other Norn. Introduced to weapons early, she took to them as the raven takes to the skies. Many of her youthful days were filled with successful hunting under the tutelage of her parents, whom had garnered quite a lot of honor and respect in their days. But even with such a strong upbringing, the near impossible one child defense against an entire dredge unit that managed to incapacitate a group of her kin still took her clan by surprise. It was that one tremendous honor bringing event that stuck to her name as she grew.
In her early twenties, she married an old childhood friend who had worked his entire life to rival the deed she had done as a child just for the chance to marry her, since that is what is required. Together, they had twins and with his successful job as a popular and effective bodyguard and her fine-tuned hunting and gathering skills, they had a good life. But an enemy of one of the man’s former employer’s wasn’t too keen on the idea that one Norn male intercepted and defeated all his assailants. With a broken limb, the father defended his children in their own home in the dead of night against waves of would-be assassins, until the numbers eventually overtook them.
Gylra came back to a quiet home, a silent husband, and a knife in each of her babes. Unlike most Norn, a ‘setback’ is just that, and they are back in the hunt. But Gylra proved to be weaker than most, and the sight broke her. No longer interested in glory and the hunt, she now travels the world, taking up her love’s old shield and occupation.
Years later, after several successful stints as a bodyguard to various races and beings of all sorts, she catches word of a group determined to claim what was lost. She won’t admit it, but she’d definitely like to see it happen to someone else.
6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.
Gylra works to protect her employer, taking whatever action is necessary. It goes back to her teachings as a child. What may seem dirty and without honor to humans, will net you respect among your clan should you accomplish something so controversial and garner ill or goodwill.
One of her employers happened to be a rich young human, a rich young human with a tendency to get drunk. It was during one of his drunken nights that he decided to stroll down a shady neighborhood full of the poor and those with immense misfortune. Well, they did know of this man, and a majority of them had been affected by his actions negatively in the past. But it was on this night, that his drunken stupor and loud insults to everyone on the street that pushed them over the edge. They had little to attack with, and they had little to fight for, but they came at him as he stumbled down the street. Gylra made sure not a single one of them laid a hand on him.
The stupidly drunk man and the silent Norn left a trail of bodies writhing in agony over their broken limbs. An old man managed to get close enough to almost stab her employer, but was taken to the ground and broken. It was at that moment, a cry was heard and Gylra pivoted to confront and pacify the attacker, but upon seeing the cry belonged to a child, she froze, and the child plunged a dirty knife into her stomach. In her state of pain, confusion, and what was thought to be forgotten memories, she hoisted her employer up on her shoulder and carried him the rest of the way.
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.
The very idea of reclaiming what was taken has a strange effect on Gylra. She’s intrigued and curious, but she’s been in the business long enough to know that some protection will be needed. So, another job seems likely.
This will be a joint work!
Open to ideas. Uh, Work in Progress.
9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character.
Rarely seen without her armor on. Has no qualms simply lifting and carrying her employer through danger. Though stoic and silent a majority of the time, it’s entirely possible to bring her far past the point of blistering fury and rage with the right set of words. It’s in that state, that she forgets all her training, focus, and control. It’s also probably the easiest to kill her in.
10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?
Stoic, quiet, but blunt and loud (mostly blunt) when needed. Most conversations end early due to her typically not even looking at who is talking to her, though she does acknowledge their existence.
11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)
Bruceman Batwayne will never see the light of day. I reluctantly understand!
12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?
Although Gylra herself is usually silent, I will always give you a response. I’ll come up with something.

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?someoneinatree.1538 Quae answered my "looking for guild" post on the GW2RP site on enjin. 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?Relatively experienced roleplayer, in pencil and paper D&D (in person and via virtual tabletops) and in Neverwinter Nights PWs. I wasn't very familiar with the lore, but have spent the last 10 days basically playing all of GW1 Prophecies and Eye of the North. It was $20, and I thought I'd try and get a few Hall of Monument statues while I was at it... how could I say no? 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 5 PvP (World vs. World): 2 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 3 Crafting: 4 Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?I like roleplaying through my PvE. I like that old school D&D feel of adventuring and doing quests in character. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? I'm in AEST (UTC+10), and will be around evenings, sundays, and one day during the week my time depending on my work schedule. So might be a bit hit and miss as to how often I run into folks, but I'm sure there'll be a few times when it works out. 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?I'd say I'm pretty casual. Don't like to feel pressured to do what should be a pleasant and fun hobby. That said - if I have the time free, I'll probably spend a fair bit of it in game. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?Any events I host would likely be running quest chains or dungeons or similar in-character. But would like to find my feet first. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?Sounds fine by me. At this stage I'm not looking to have any responsibility in the guild, just participate for now. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? π - because who doesn't love pie? 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Sure do. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. No ex-guild here. But the NwN PW I played on I enjoyed that everyone was always in-character and that the players were on the most part mature and able to tell great stories together. I disliked how occasionally the dark setting of the server became a little oppressive, and that it felt like you had to be logging in at least several times a week to really get involved. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.A small but cohesive group of roleplayers and friendly faces to party up with. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. Some Australian timezone representation! And someone else to experience the world with so that even just travelling is enjoyable. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?Thief, jewelcrafter, leatherworker, merchant, and general rogue. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)A craftsman and merchant who also hires others to assist with acquisition of items or providing those services for others. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender.Human male, around thirty years. Haven't got much further than that! 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.Raised as a commoner by adoptive parents, but without any great means of wealth, he developed a talent for being fairly light-fingered. He also has a penchant for beauty, and at the time of becoming interested in joining the duchy, he is in trouble with a noble family of Divinity's Reach for expressing too strong an interest in one of their children. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.I would say he's got good tendencies, but has little time for playing things by the book. His concept of what is "good" however, may not be everyone's. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.To have a good reason to get out of Divinity's Reach for a while - do some travel - make some allies. This will be a joint work! For Felix it might be a case of him coming to Duchy members, a little bit desparate and in need of a place to lay low for a few days - with the offer to make it worth their while. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Semi-unique? Haha. I'm afraid I'm not sure yet. Need to get a feel for how he plays out in-game. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?Distrustful, cold and closed to strangers, but warm and generous to allies. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)Yep. Par for the course. 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know? Not yet. Looking forward to jumping in the character creator soon! | |

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?Connacht.9650. I tend to avoid the official forums for MMOs unless I need a question answered. 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?I’m a lapsed roleplayer. When MMOs first came on to the scene, I role-played characters but eventually that went by the wayside because so few people were interested in doing it with me. I roleplayed in SWG, Jumpgate, and the Everquest games. WoW was never much of a roleplayers game. I have not done the pen and paper roleplay before, but I’m sure I would enjoy it. I am somewhat familiar with the GW2 lore, though I did not play the original game much. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 4 PvE (dungeons, general): 4 PvP (World vs. World): 5 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 3 Crafting: 4 Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?I think competitive world vs. world PVP where players can seize objectives and territory is the most fun, particularly given GW2’s game mechanics. This provides a lot of replay value for people, and the addition of guild halls later will add much to that as well. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? I live in Seoul, so my time zone is GMT + 9. I plan to be online in the afternoons and during the days on the weekends, so most of that time will be early in the morning or during the day for U.S. players. 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?I consider myself a casual player because in addition to working 40-50 hours a week, I am also taking graduate school classes. So out of necessity, I have to be a casual player. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?I would enjoy both hosting RP events and participating in others’ events. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?I like that system – it encourages people to participate and not be bystanders. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? Any number you get from long division without a remainder – what’s more satisfying than that? 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. I was in an adult (as in 18+ age required) gaming community called Hammerfist Clan that I recently departed. I liked the system of rewards and advancement, as well as the community resiliency (they have a presence in numerous MMOs.) I did not like the fact that in spite of established rules and procedures, certain people were allowed to get away with breaking the cardinal rules. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy. My main hope/expectation for the Duchy is that it will hold fast to the principles found throughout the website. I think the Duchy has a strong sense of itself, and I hope that it remains strong. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. In addition to my general MMO experience, I have been in virtually every position in guilds for other games in the past, to include leadership, officer, and rank and file member. I really enjoy the storytelling element to RPGs and have the most fun when part of an organization with objectives and goels. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.Ataeus will be my main character – there is no family name assigned to him for RP reasons explained below. I will probably create other characters in the future, but have not decided any specifics about them. 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?Ataeus will be an elementalist. He will craft and gather in addition to fighting. Industriousness is an important aspect of his character. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)Combat and craftsman – Ataeus uses his intellect to create as well as to destroy, though often one lends itself to the other. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender.Ataeus is a young Asura adult who like the rest of his race, was forced to rebuild Asura civilization (or some approximation thereof) aboveground. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.Ataeus had barely reached adulthood when the Asura lost their great underground civilization and like many young men filled with energy and ambition, saw the older generations and their rivalries as more responsible for his race’s plight than anything else. Ataeus shares the Asura goal of dominating the world, but believes most of his people are pursuing that objective in an all-too-overt manner and will never become the masters of the world while internal divisions plague their society. His open disdain for Asura leadership and society in the aftermath of the migration aboveground quickly led to serious trouble. Although spared exile by publicly recanting his criticism, Ataeus was stripped of his family name (which he would refuse returned to him out of defiance) and most of his property – the latter achieved by rival krewes who saw an opportunity to acquire his research. Ataeus’ parents, who had never been comfortable with his “radical” views, turned their backs and closed their door – which Ataeus believed was more due to pressure from Asura society than anything else. This ordeal left its marks for better and for worse on Ataeus. On the one hand, he learned that concealing his opinions and objectives was a wiser course of action and grew up considerably, but on the other hand the betrayal he feels from his near exile has embittered and confused him, leading him to doubt the Asura as a civilization will ever achieve its former greatness. Although still operating within the basic confines of Asura society, Ataeus is looking for something more. He’s becoming less optimistic that Asura society would ever adopt his viewpoints, but like many young revolutionaries, he dreams of creating a better future for the world – but that better future would have the Asura in complete control of the other races and their kingdoms. However, Ataeus is slowly waking up from this dream and the impressionable young man is looking for a better future for himself. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.Ataeus is morally grey. He has his own objectives tied to the betterment of his race, but is realistic in their pursuit and keenly aware of the importance of how others perceive him and other Asura. While terms like “racist” or “nationalist” are not applicable to him personally, he does carry a healthy disdain for the other races in the world, particularly the Charr. This has more to do with a perceived lack of intelligence than overt racism and Ataeus works well and plays nicely with others. His true sentiments are buried under and subordinate to his desire to see Asura civilization dominate the world. Ataeus’ first truly morally ambiguous action was his monologue defending himself from exile from the great city of Rata Sum. He publicly recanted much of his stated beliefs have to do with achieving pragmatic relations with other races, his denouncement of inter-Asura competition and rivalry, and accusations that incompetent leadership had contributed to the loss of the underground. Recognizing that losing access to Rata Sum and many of the Asura’s resources contained within the city would undermine his own long term objectives, Ataeus saved himself from exile and curiously enough, discovered that members of the Inquest were the strongest advocates against a possible exile… 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.Ataeus would join the Duchy to both distance himself from the inner-workings of Rata Sum where he can pursue his research more freely and to gain experience dealing with other races and learning how to best reclaim lost land. This will be a joint work!Ataeus is not a noble, hero, and hasn’t done anything particularly worthy of note at the time of this writing. His induction to the Duchy should reflect that status, so it might be most appropriate to set up an encounter with another Asura who would have heard something about Ataeus’ near exile and offering the Duchy as an alternative to Rata Sum. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. In spite of his knowledge and self-confidence, Ataeus has a weakness for money and shiny objects – regardless of their worth. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?Generally speaking, Ataeus is talkative and sure of himself and his actions, bordering on arrogant. He is polite and privately disdains others who appear ill-educated – though this attitude sometimes manifests itself in the way he speaks to others. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)Yes. 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?I’m trying to get back into the RP environment after quite some time, so I’m looking forward to getting back into that kind of an environment again. | |

| 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Pulseifer
2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore? I’ve been roleplaying in MMO’s since Everquest all the way to World of Warcraft. Although I’m a bit out of practice as of the last year, I’m looking forward to Guild Wars 2 getting me back into the game as it were. I’m very familiar with the Guild Wars lore and consider myself something of an aficionado.
3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much) Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 3 PvP (World vs. World): 5 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 5 Crafting: 4
Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite? I love the ability for Roleplaying to interweave stories. We all spend time laboring over character sheets, plotting up intricacies for our individuals, but it all really comes to shine when we combine them as a community. Although I love a good old fashioned sit down session of RPing, I’m really looking forward to being able to combine the different aspects of the game into RPing. A tournament in The Mists on a custom PvP server? Sounds great to me. Defending a keep in WvW to the bitter end shouting “HOLD THE LINE!”? Sounds fantastic. The versatility of roleplaying is something that must be utilized.
4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? Pacific Standard Time, my hours are a bit erratic but I’d say mostly evenings.
5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not? I like to consider myself an avid enthusiast. Of course there’s the marathon sessions that are created from years worth of anticipation, but once that dies down I’m sure I’ll be around often.
6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works? Although I may not have the energies to come up with an event on my own, I’d be more than happy to collaborate with someone to organize a get together, event, anything really.
7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system? You get out what you put in, right? It sounds like a fair, even handed situation.
8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? Eight ( 8 ). Call me crazy, but I absolutely adore the way the number eight looks. There’s something so complete, fulfilling, and evocative about the way that it curves round and round back into itself, never truly ending.
9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes I do.
10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. What I enjoyed about my last guild was the variance and depth of its history. The notion of having a strong back drop to place your characters on is essential to good story telling. What I didn’t care for was the way this depth was utilized, where in that great amount of depth quickly turned shallow when it came to integrate new players into that lore. It lacked a sense of cohesion that made me feel like I was reall a part of something.
11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy. I hope to enter in on the ground floor of an enterprising organization. A large amount of my hopes for Guild Wars 2 involves becoming entering into a guild that I can call a home, of sorts.
12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. A positive attitude, a sense of humor, and a Norn clad head to toe in heavy armor. Like I’ve said, I have a lot of good intentions with what I plan to do in Guild Wars 2 and I’m just looking for an avenue to see them realized.
IC Portion
1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application. Main: Sigurd Leifsson Alts: Undecided as of yet, though I’m sure more will come.
2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both? Sigurd is a Guardian, defender of comrades (as well those offering coin). His occupation is that of an armor smith, shaping iron and steel into heavy armors.
3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian) Supplier of heavy arms, perhaps captain of some sort of guard. (Wanting this to sort of form organically).
4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparant and real), race, and gender.
Standing tall, even from a distance, Sigurd’s figure looms at roughly nine-feet in height. From broad shoulders to thick bones, his body his composed of tightly packed muscle. His stance is wide and heavy; what his movements lack in grace and elegance he makes up for with pure determination and conviction of his actions. An intricate tribal tattoo carves its way across his chest, wrapping around his back and up his neck. One would typically describe Sigurd’s face as warmhearted. The deep laugh lines, his broad smile, and his turquoise eyes all exude a certain enthusiasm for life. His short layered black hair frames his face, running down the sides into a matching muttonstache which drapes down his jawline. A meticulous amount of care seems to have been put into the maintenance of this facial hair. He looks to be in his 30’s (real age 35).
5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. Sigurd was raised in the Eastern foothills of the Shiverpeak Mountains. Born the eldest of three siblings: Anka, Vargir, and Nikolai, he took naturally to leading the pack of rambunctious youth. While their father instructed them with the wisdom and teachings of Wolf, their mother would tuck them to sleep with stories of Bear’s mighty deeds.
As the four grew older, they earned their glory all while wearing Sigurd’s armors. Guided by his father, each pound of the smithing hammer instilled another of Wolf’s lessons into Sigurd’s mind. Each link in the chainmail was more than mere metal, it was the pack’s strength embodied.
Although his parents had passed in the early years of his adulthood participating in the Great Hunt, Sigurd knew Wolf’s teachings would guide his family to greatness. Meanwhile, his brothers and sister had gravitated towards the bold strength and mighty endurance that Bear embodied. Sigurd watched over siblings as they budded into adulthood. Donned in the armors he crafted, he sought to protect them through his creations.
The time came, however, when felling beasts of nature could not satiate the young glory hungry Norn. Stories of Jormag’s Iceborn and their brutality began to fuel their ambitions; they thought to defeat such an opponent would surely place their name in legend. When Sigurd heard of their plan to join the scores of the young sons and daughters of the Shiverpeaks who had been consumed by these dragon-haunted times, he stood vehemently against it. Although they had proven themselves in hunts against mighty minotaurs and hordes of Dredge, his siblings were seeking a fight beyond their seasons. In spite of his warnings, Anka, Nikolai, and Vargir gathered their gear early one morning and raced off with a group of Norn headed off to make their names. Their battle was short, the victor was clear, and few returned.
When news of his sibling’s demise reached him, Sigurd fell into a drunken stupor, both from the sorrow of his loss and the anger that he had not been with them. When the stories of the Durmand Priory and their work against the Elder Dragons came to his ear, he set off to the nearby Anvil Rock to put his skills to use fighting Jormag in his own way. In their order, he found a strong ally. The Priory acquired a hulking Norn to smash through the dangers that lurked in old Dwarven ruins; Sigurd was able to honor the memory of his siblings by protecting the lives of those that combated the Elder Dragons. Over his years in the Priory’s service, he found himself spending his free time scouring the texts in the Priory’s extensive library. Like his father had taught him to temper a shield with the wisdom of Wolf, he steeled his mind with lessons and stories of the past.
Through his time with the Priory, he never found the maguffin that would restore peace to the Shiverpeaks or the lives of those he’d seen lost to the destructive force of the Elder Dragons. After years of struggling to find even scraps of the knowledge the Priory sought, Sigurd left their order to return home. He founded “Leifsson Armors” in the following years, finding a certain satisfaction in arming the masses of Hoelbrak with iron and steel.
As of recently, Leifsson Armors was set ablaze in what was labeled as a “random act of arson”, though he has held suspicions otherwise. Despite this he has found work in the lowlands of Kryta, freelancing both his smithing hammer and his blade to various groups and individuals.
6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.
Sigurd is a Norn of a good moral standing. He approaches most situations with a light heartedness that borders on the naïve, though he is far from simple minded. With Wolf’s wisdom at the forefront of his actions, he always keeps the pack in mind. While accompanying an excavation crew on a relic hunt in an ancient Dwarven city, Sigurd was most remembered for the terrifying whirl of steel he weaved to strike the opposing Dredge. What they hadn’t realized was that the hulking figure was hurling himself to blindside foes before they could strike. Utilizing his preservation magic, he forged aegises in order to deflect blows that would fell his comrades. No one was going to be left behind if Sigurd had anything to do about it.
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind. Sigurd has been training in smithing since he could hold a hammer (which is very young, by human standards). With the upcoming conflict the Duchy faces, the need for armors to protect in the fight against the encroaching centaurs is no doubt high. In addition, his fierce loyalty to those he calls friends and family leads to his forming of strong bonds with those he trusts.
This will be a joint work! As of this moment, I do not. Perhaps something could be forged for a high ranking official in the Duchy? First to prove his mettle at armorsmithing, then to open the door to showing his martial prowess.
9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Although he is never one to turn down the call to greatness, Sigurd’s lust for glory has been tempered by the death of his family and the current state of the world. While it is inherent in Norn culture to find something bigger and badder to fight, he has come to find a certain amount of acceptance with his life and fights to defend it and the lives of those he’s come to care for.
10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet? Sigurd his lives life as large as his stature, he works hard, he fights hard, and he drinks harder. He has been described as being bright eyed, enthusiastic, and a little over zealous at times. He’s made a reputation around Hoelbrak in his trading days as dealing with an honest, fair, and level headed demeanor. With that being said, more than a few reports have been filed about drunken brawls incited by Sigurd during his late night mead-a-thons. His overindulgence of alcohol can be intuited by the sight of the large, worn hip flask that rests on his belt at all time.
11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.) Yes.
12 ) Anything else you feel we should know? I’m not sure what more I can say to sell myself on you guys, but I’ve been told that you’re a small, tight knit community looking for likeminded individuals, and I think I fit the bill. If you’ve managed to read through all of this, I’d just like to say ‘Thanks!’ and I hope it was enjoyable!

| 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Naukha.4321
2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore? I've been casually roleplaying for a few years now, however I have rarely delved into detail, which is something I would like to try doing more with Guild Wars 2. I used to have a few small, close-knit groups to roleplay with in WoW , but I quit playing WoW a year or so ago so I may be a bit rusty.
3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much) Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 5 PvP (World vs. World): 3 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 2 Crafting: 4
Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite? I love both PvE and Roleplaying because, overall, I love a sense of adventure! I love exploring, meeting new people/characters, and building my own character as I go along.
4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? I'm normally online every night after 7 or 8pm (Central), although my schedule is a bit unpredictable, I always try to stay in touch.
5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not? I would consider myself casual I suppose. I generally let reality take precedence, and because I am living at a university, real life adventures may pull me away quite often. Although I do always try to at least hop online to keep in touch, as stated above. I also do have periods of time where I play Guild Wars 2 all day, as I said, I have an unpredictable schedule, but I will try to be around as much as I can!
6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works? I usually enjoy the works of others, honestly I've never led any events before, but I wouldn't mind maybe stepping up to the plate and giving it a try.
7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system? I think this is a fine system and makes the most sense given that the guild is a mainly RP oriented guild. I also like the feeing of accomplishment that comes with being promoted, as I know that I worked to earn it.
8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? I would have to say nine. I'm not entirely sure why, but it has always been my favorite number (I even had it as a nickname for awhile!). I love the way it looks and sounds. It's not quite a perfect 10, but who wants to be perfect? It's the imperfections that define us.
9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes I do, I generally avoid drama by nature anyhow.
10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. The last RP guild that I distinctly remember (It's been awhile) was quite enjoyable. All the members had become good friends OOC, and the roleplay was varied. Sometimes an exciting escapade, sometimes just a regular ol' tavern roleplay. I can't pinpoint anything in particular that I disliked, overall I'm generally easily entertained.
11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy. Hm, I would like to see a close-knit guild who is also open to the community. I like guilds that do both private and public events. I would definitely like to see the Duchy become a presence in the community overall.
12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. I hope to bring in some enjoyable RP and hopefully some crafting once I start getting a bit more profecient! I would also like to get more active in WvW.
IC Portion
1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application. Main: Sabriel Mazadora
2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both? Sabriel is a ranger who loves exploring, as well as a leatherworker and aspiring cook. She tends to go out on travels for a day or two and then returns to town to socialize, rest, and craft.
3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian) I would see Sabriel being a hunter, bringing game/food back for the townspeople or being used in combat situations, most lkely a scout of some kind (I could especially see her being something of a cartographer or surveyor or something). Overall, she is a character who wants to be helpful in any way she can, she'll find something to do!
4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparant and real), race, and gender. Sabriel is a female, and appears to be about 20 but is rather short in stature. Technically since the Sylvari race is only 25 years old, she would actually be about 16 or so, but would awaken from the tree with the maturity of a 25 year old. Her skin is a dark seafoam blue, as is her hair, which glows with orange tips at night to match the patterns across her skin. Her eyes are a cool wintergreen color. She has a watchful, but curious look about her.
5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. Being a Sylvari, she awakened from the Pale Tree and is still quite young. In her dream she saw the signs that designated her as a Wyld Hunt Valiant and that ultimately caused her to wake although she rarely speaks of this and prefers to keep her valiant duties to herself, despite having rather successful stints in defending her people from the Nightmare Court. After waking she began to learn the art of archery and huntsmanship from her mentor, Lorgaire. Once she polished her skills she was given her eagle, Arazul, as a hunting companion who has grown to be her most treasured ally. This brings us to the present, where she has left the Grove quite recently and is beginning to explore and meet the other races to further educate herself and gain some "real-world" experience, aside from what she learned while in the Dream.
6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation. I would say that Sabriel is morally grey, but generally attempts to be good. For instance, she may be asked to clear out some intruding Ettins or some pesky Skritt and she would do so to help friends or friendly townsfolk, but would contemplate on the general belief that "All things have a right to grow" and would question her own actions and wether or not she was in the wrong.
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind. Seeing as she is seeking adventure, experience, and enjoys helping others, she saw the Duchy as a chance to learn more about the world beyond the Grove and to help others at the same time.
This will be a joint work! Well, it would seem that Sabriel stumbled into a benefit dinner held by the Duchess herself in Divinity's Reach and became interested. (Right? :0 )
9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. She has a strong empathic connection to her eagle, Arazul, she can pick up on his general emotions, but not direct thoughts.
10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet? On the outside, she is an optimistic and enthusiastic adventurer, choosing to remain quiet about the darker aspects of life. She may come across as niave at times, but is actually a rather sharp individual when need be. Once she is focused on the task at hand, she usually becomes keen and more reserved.
11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.) Yes, of course.
12 ) Anything else you feel we should know? Nope, that should be all~

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?Verranicus / @Verranicus 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?I've been RPing for over ten years in some form or another. I started in chatrooms and forums when I was younger and moved on to online gaming when FFXI first came out and have since been hopping from game to game. I played a good deal of GW1 and have gone over most of the wiki, so I feel I have a fair grasp of the lore. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 5 PvP (World vs. World): 3 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 3 Crafting: 4 Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?RP makes everything better. I get most of my fun from exploring the world and improving my character, and if I can be roleplaying while I do all that all the better. I try to avoid taverns when I can for obvious reasons. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? EST, but my playtimes vary. I tend to play for several hours a day at least. 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?At the moment I'm fairly addicted and will likely be on more often than not. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?I could do both, but until I get a feel for the guild and the people in it I'd likely stick to other peoples' events. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?Fine by me. My rank isn't especially important. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? 11. You know why. Yes you do. 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? I acknowledge, understand and embrace it. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. Cliquey behaviour drives me up the wall, and is the primary reason I tend to give any and all tavern RP a wide berth. It's also the reason I tend to avoid joining RP guilds, but given the relative young age of the game I figured I'd give it a shot. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.Frequent RP that isn't tethered to a tavern and a chatty guild chat that can tolerate my occasional bad jokes and frustrated grumble after plummeting from a vista for the fifteenth time. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy.Myself. I like to think I'm pretty decent at RP/the game in general, and lean a bit towards the more humorous side of things. If I can give someone a chuckle while RPing and then turn around and smite some boss monster with a guildie a little bit later, gravy. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.Sebastian Blackwell, my only character with any sort of substantial backstory. 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?Thief in terms of gameplay. His RP occupation is a bit more complicated. In his own words, he's a "Merchant, Tinker, Purveyor of Rare Things and 'General Problem Solver', and that's just what he does in the open light of day. For the most part he makes his living traveling from place to place and selling whatever he finds along the way, stopping to do odd jobs if he comes up short. He'll also occasionally lend his time as a bodyguard, possessing a talent with both pistols and a blade that belies his otherwise passive work. He's not adverse to dabbling on the less-than-legal side of things, however, though as a generally good person he has a personal set of ethics he won't betray. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)Sebastian has a knack for finding things of value, and would be pretty handy at bringing in resources or valuables to the Duchy from within or beyond it's borders. His "side business" as a bodyguard could also be of use to any of the nobility. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender.Sebastian is a human in his late twenties or early thirties standing perhaps four inches shy of six feet and possessing a light build befitting someone of his varied professions. His skin is somewhat pale and relatively unmarred by marks, scars or tattoos and he keeps his dark hair at medium length and well taken care of. More often than not he can be found in light leathers for their ease of movement, commonly dyed dark to aid in his work, though he always manages to look good despite it. He has a number of stilettos sheathed here and there under his coat, as well as a pair of pistols holstered in his belt, all of which when questioned on them he claims are there "just in case". 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.Sebastian was originally a refugee from an outlying settlement forced to flee to the safety of Divinity's Reach when his home was attacked by centaur. Living among the throng of lower class citizens who had suffered similar misfortunes for a time, he used certain skills he'd acquired as a young man to quickly climb the precarious social ladder of the great city until he came to possess a modest business, a decent reputation and a fair bit of wealth. He's often questioned by those who know of his roots, asked how he managed to collect the money and favors necessary to settle into such a comfortable position, and gives the same answer to all: "Nothing special. Just hard work, day and night." He now works as a traveling tinker, occasional trader and general "problem solver" throughout Kryta and the neighboring territories, building his reputation (and filling his coinpurse) with each job he takes. There are also whispers that he'll accept tasks that cross the line on what's considered legal, provided the reasoning for the job and the pay are good enough for him. Hearing of a relatively untapped location in this Duchy, it's not a stretch to say he'd be interested in expanding his network. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.Sebastian is a good fellow, and though his less public work sometimes paints him as morally ambiguous he has a strong altruistic streak and would be hard pressed to leave someone in obvious need unaided. A recent example would be his discovery of a rather naive young Sylvari in the Lion's Arch market being taken advantage of by the merchants, sold swamp water with promises it was instilled with magic and so forth. Rather than leave the lady to be robbed of all her coin, Sebastian managed to lead her out without starting a street brawl (a feat in a place like Lion's Arch) and has been a close friend of her since. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.As I've mentioned, the Duchy presents a unique opportunity for someone as business minded as Sebastian. A land he's not yet explored with potentials for riches, fascinating artifacts and adventure. Being the big softy he is, it wouldn't take much to get him to stick around. This will be a joint work!Being fairly well known as a fellow who can find things, or even hide things that other people might want found, Sebastian may have something someone in the Duchy needs or wants. As amicable as he is, he's no pushover when it comes to haggling, and it would be a learning experience into his character to try and barter with him. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Sebastian is a bookworm. He loves to read and learn for no better reason than he enjoys pointing out random facts to those around him, oftentimes when they'd rather not hear it. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?Unfailingly optimistic on the surface. Despite his rather dreary beginnings, Sebastian subscribes to the idea that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar, and has thus learned to keep a positive front at all times. All times. He could be staring down the barrel of a rifle being held by someone who'd sworn a blood oath to kill him and still be smiling. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)But then how will I explain Sebastian's ability to fly and shoot lasers from his eyes? ( This is a joke ) 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?I can be a bit of a chatterbox in guildchat when the mood strikes me, and though I haven't yet been told to stuff it I wouldn't be offended if I was. Also, I am primarily a solo player when it comes to actual gameplay. I love the occasional foray into dungeons and PVP, but more often than not I'd rather be playing on my own and rambling in guildchat than actually running with another guildie doing events. -This is nothing personal-. We could be best friends and this would still be the case. It's just the way I am. Hope it's not an issue. | |

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you? Most people I will know will refer to me as Barta, which was my handle or account name in SL (Second Life). My handle is BartaLemton.6280 in game~ 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?I am a Veteran Multi-Para roleplayer whom has been roleplaying for the past 8 or so years. I generally do not RP on MMOs because I fear God Modders, Power Gamers, and people that try and pull the *your character does this* in their posts....I usually stick to pen and paper, forum RP, and RPing over steam and IM programs (mostly steam). 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 3 PvP (World vs. World): 1 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 2 Crafting: 4 Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?I love roleplaying, I love to craft stories that are indepth and involved. I love the flow of prose, the fluent exhange of information without god modding and intelligent company. I am committed to my RP and find it fascinating that we can come together to craft a story of our own, without much complication nor misunderstanding. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? I work at a nightclub, thus my hours are very unpredictable and variable. Though I usually work from 5-3am EST and sleep from 7am-3pm....Play inbetween whenever I can! 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?I am actually a very dedicated player whom takes his time to explore, craft, and RP rather than just powering through the game. I believe the journey there is what counts the most. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works? I will write stories and host exploration events, though I don't know how comfortable I would feel hosting an event such as a pub night....I also will lead groups into dungeons as I am a tank. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system? I believe that this system suites my needs and playstyle, and I know that both IC and OOC contributions will make this guild or break it, so I understand why this system is necessary. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? 42 (forty-two) is the natural number immediately following 41 and directly preceding 43. The number has received considerable attention in popular culture as a result of its central appearance in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything". 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? I understand and I can strictly follow this policy, understanding it's implications and ramifications. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. I actually still have multiple guilds, and I love each one. I'm in Chew Toy with a bunch of online gaming friends, and I'm in Blunt Logic with my University Peers....or rather other Alumni of the University of Guelph. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.I just hope to partake in a number of exciting, exhilarating, and unique RP events which we create and enjoy together as a united force or collective family. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy.I hope to bring my personality, my charm, my unique character, and my roleplaying style. Furthermore I will do my best to contribute to the Guild Bank whenever I can, starting with an initial good will donation most likely of food stuffs. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.I intend to play my Charr Glabrezan (No last name), whom is my only character at the moment due to time limitations. He is a wartorn, haggard, and grizzled warrior whom tends to travel to the front lines of the war, both Mist and Dragon Wars. 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?ICly Glabrezan is a warrior whom also scouts for the Black Citadel and his Tribune/Mentor, Rytlock Brimstone. At the moment he is on an extended leave from the Citadel, working elsewhere and scouting the lands about for resources and conflict. He is a skilled cook, though is more apt to keep his food to himself and mostly meat based....being Charr. He has a knack for creating small jewels and gems, ornate and functional at the same time. He is both a fighter and a crafter, he tries to get by on his own and be useful....The worst thing in his eyes is a useless person, or a person whom doesn't fight and work to survive. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)I'm hoping he will fill the role of combatant or town guard, however he will often be at the Black Citadel as it is his life for Blood Legion. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender. Glabrezan is a haggard, rugged, war torn warrior whom has obviously seen better days. His fur is a dark chocolate, mane a deep raven black that drapes over his back in tangled knots. His eyes a leafy green, though hardened into a stare at most times. His horns are long, serrated, and almost cruel in shape and form...a dark ebony tint to their being. His teeth overflow -from his mouth, jagged, sharp, and vicious they clearly compose the maw of a pure carnivore. Each ear is haggard, torn, and missing chunks here and there. He appears to be about his mid twenties. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. My character was born in battle, or near the battlefield outside the Tengu wall, the year is uncertain however the season was winter and his parents were scouting....Caught down in the area by a lack of funds and bad weather, not to mention surmounting enemy forces and monsters. Despite his rather risky birth he eventually made it back to the Black Citadel to join his farhar and Blood Legion, his new and lifetime family. His farhar and year, the cubs that he spent his life with, chose Grimclaw as their name...Though he does not openly express it. There are no castes in the Charr, there are those who have a warband, and those who do not. Glabrezan is mostly a foot soldier within the Charr ranks, however at the moment he is not deployed and is currently working away from the citadel. If and when the time comes that he is needed on the forefront of battle, he will be more than eager to return with a moment's notice. On the topic of notable events there would be but one at this point in time which would be a training session partially overseen by Rytlock, which although not memorable to most, is one of the few stark and contrasting memories the character possesses. This is due to the fact that, like many of Blood Legion, he looks up to his Tribune with honor, respect, and unfaltering loyalty. On the topic of childhood events there is but one, which would be a near drowning in the Ascalonian Basin...Though he does not have complete and overwhelming hydrophobia, he does tend to panic when stressed underwater. For this reason if he is downed underwater he tends to swim to the surface rather than stay and fight. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation. My character is a morally grey character, he does what is best for Blood Legion without a doubt. Blood Legion is his mother, Blood Legion is his father, everything and everyone he cares about is Blood Legion. If he were asked to clear out an area of an enemy race, he would do it without question. The only time he questions his acts are against cubs, or the children of his race. He is deeply concerned with their safety, despite having not sired any of his own. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind. My character is strapped for cash at the moment, not to mention he feels the need to work as his orders are on hold from the Black Citadel. At the moment he is travelling the lands, gathering resources to send to his warband, and scouting unfamiliar territories. He is marked by a desire to wander, to make his own way and move with the wind. Although it will always lead him back to the Black Citadel when he is called upon or needed. This will be a joint work!My character is known to travel very long distances, to the point that he will be exhausted near death when he gets there. He could likely be found in a completely fatigued state, spent and thoroughly exhausted. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Glabrezan has a penchant for Norn crafting, to the greater extent he covets their weapons and armor.....Though will never wear Norn Armor as it does not represent Blood Legion. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet? Glabrezan is a romantic, in his own contorted way...He finds honor and romance in battle, he respects the deeds of others and their efforts. There are two topics which will cause Glabrezan to be irate and abrasive, these are his father and religion. He tends to speak with actions, not words. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.) I understand and I only play characters that have limited to no power politically. I am above all else a responsible, polite, and respectful player. 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?I am a newly graduated university student from the University of Guelph, I am a deviant in many ways and I will try my best not to upset those of us who cannot accept or tolerate deviance. I majored in Molecular Biology and Genetics. I am Canadian and do not appreciate when Americans insult my country....Also an atheist, but I never bring politics or religion into the gambit. ALSO I am a multi-para RPer that values action and box text, I will use many ellipses and more *action text here* than actual lines. I will also tend to use ~ Sometimes at the end of sentences, I just like the way it looks. | |

| 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Meadow Saffron @fujimaruu.2934
2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore? I'm a veteran roleplayer and I've been RPing in just about every game I've ever played - because why bother with reality? I'm only dimly familiar with GW2 war but I'm reading every bit I can, focusing especially on Sylvari lore.
I adore writing - or at least I used to - until I began to find it a bit one sided. Using my ingame character as a template along with her pve accomplishments, roleplaying adds an immersive element to the game that's almost like a drug. I'm excited to see how people react to my character and I'm excited to lose myself in one of the rare things that I think I'm good at.
4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? It really depends on if something else has caught my attention, but generally I'll be online after 7pm.
5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not? I'm a casual player in that I don't grind gear or ingame items unless I think they're going to look nice in an Rp set. With all the vistas and POIs to find in a zone and my compulsive desire for completion, I probably won't move on until I've finished a map but that's about as hardcore as I get.
6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works? I would prefer to enjoy other peoples' works, I'm not very confident in hosting any events.
7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system? I think it's brilliant but my character is so excited to be a part of a guild that her ambition is set a little low. I'm not particularly voracious for politics but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a system that rewards people for participation.
8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? 42. Because I always remember my towel.
9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? I understand and if I had to pay extra for this service I would.
10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. I've only joined a few random invitation guilds and rarely represent them. I can't really say much about them.
11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy. I'd like to be recognized as being part of something fantastic and greater than myself.
12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. Comedic Relief? I want to be the fun character that breaks up serious moments and makes them less awkward for strangers to join in. I want to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome and equally important.
IC Portion
1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application. Main: Meadow Saffron Alts: Undecided.
2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both? Meadow is a ranger who focuses most of her time on extending her stable of companion animals that fight along side her. She crafts on the side but often only to support her pets.
3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian) I hope she will be an expert on beasts and a good companion to everyone!
4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparant and real), race, and gender. Meadow is a lithe Sylvari that could be likened to a flower. She dresses in bright purples and pinks to offset the deep emerald hue of her skin which glows with a white light when she's emotional. With Sylvari, age is a very difficult thing to judge - she appears to be a fully grown adult female however she has only been awakened from the dream for two years.
5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. Meadow was awakened during the cycle of dawn, dreaming vividly about the shield of the moon. When partnered with a mentor upon awakening, Meadow would often become distracted and wander away. In an effort to keep her safe and focused she was leashed to a shy Sylvari pup that lacked confidence and refused to leave the den. This plan soon backfired as the pair grew comfortable with one another which led to her spending more time than ever estranged from her mentor and wandering aimlessly. But at least she had her Lucin to keep her safe. Currently she is seeking to expand her stables and has made a contract with Sebastian Blackwell to this end.
6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation. Meadow is very much a 'good guy'. While she is often very naive she has a strong sense of morals and truly believes that everything has a right to grow. During her time in Lion's Arch she spent the majority of her earnings on feeding stray animals and children (which she seems to think are the same thing).
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind. Honestly I don't think Meadow knew what was going on when Sebastian fast-talked her into the guild, but she's very happy regardless.
This will be a joint work! This has already happened~!
9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Meadow has the unique skill of being able to misinterpret just about anything you say. Just try it, I dare you.
10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Meadow is cheerful and very naive. She is very determined when it comes to some of her personal goals and while she may appear to be a delicate flower she'll snap a finger with a smile if she has to, apologizing sweetly the entire time.
Meadow, like many sylvari, doesn't often understand gender roles. Because that's fun to me. |

4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? EST I am unemployed so anytime really, mostly during the day.
5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not? I am not a casual gamer, but playing alone can be boring so I have had shorter play sessions than usual.
6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works? No, I am not a leader. please see last question thou.
7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system? Think this is reasonable and understandable.
8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? I hate mathematics and Math hates me. 42 it means everything to me.
9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes I do.
10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. Amazonia in DCUO. They were not a RP guild but are RP friendly. I disliked all the Numbers/ Stats chat. I liked that they tried to group together as much as possible.

12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. I am someone who enjoys to help. I am also a Idea person, story or character ideas.
IC Portion
1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application. Main: Shandra Bellows Alts: Kelhee Bellows
2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both? Shandra is a Pirate/ Privateer. Engineering is her forte. She likes to make weapons. Kelhee is a Ranger who has a pet Bear.
3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian) I hope that she will be granted a Privateer position
4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender. Shandra is a 23 yr old Human female who is about 6ft tall. She had coppery brown hair which looks unique.
5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. Shandra and her sister are originally from Beetletun. At the age of 3 Shandra and her infant sister were sent to a orphanage in Divinity's Reach; she barely remembers her parents. Both girls grew up on the streets of the big city. Shandra did what she had to do to keep her and her sister safe. At 19, Shandra was in serious trouble with one of the street gangs. She decided to leave the city. A hard choice for sure, but Kelhee only seemed to get into trouble because of her following Shandra. She left and found a ship. She soon discovered a love of the sea and ships in general. 3yrs after Shandra left, Kelhee decided to become a ranger and search for her sister. She soon learned she was good with a bow. Shandra eventually got a ship and crew of her own. It was this ship that captured another ship. This new ship was only slightly better than her old one, but she discovered it maybe valuable.
6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation. Shandra is morally grey. she understands the importance in obeying laws when needed. She has no problem breaking a law if she can benefit without much risk. Kelhee is good, plain and simple.
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind. Shandra would join as a Privateer Captain with hopes of having multiple ships at her command. Kelhee would join because her sister is their, and the Duchess' cause seems just.
This will be a joint work! Shandra has captured what she came to find out, is the ship that was originally called The White Oak. A Sloop of the Duchy of Corussa. She has let her crew go, so as to pay for the dock fees at Lion's Arch. She has been searching for months for any information on this Duchy or the Duchess.
9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. She is fascinated with guns.
10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet? Shandra is a quiet observer. She like to plan things out if they can be. Shandra can become loud when she disagrees.
I am a idea person, either Character or plot ideas. I also love to help new folks.

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you? Svlen, same as the character. Grotte sent me here. 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore? Veteran. Have RP'ed on WoW, ToR, Aion. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 5PvE (dungeons, general): 4PvP (World vs. World): 3PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 2Crafting: 1Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite? I've always loved role playing, ever since I was introduced to it via DnD as a kid. I've loved creating an experience which others can enjoy, that I can place myself into the body of another an act out a story which draws intrigue and deep thought. I often contradict myself in that I like keeping things simple enough for people to understand but make them complicated enough to make someone step back and honestly think about how their character might go about handling something. I'd hope and do think I've achieved that with Svlen. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? I can usually be on whenever throughout the day, I'm on EST and spend a 4/7 day (Typically running 1.5-2.5hrs.)schedule at the gym. Other than that I can be found on Svlen or leveling alts 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not? More often than not. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works? Hosted my first on the 14th of September! Everyone seemed to enjoy it. I like hosting events, gives me a chance to create a story or add on to one already present. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system? Works fine with me, never been one to bother himself with trying to advance. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? Seven, always go with seven because it is lucky. For some reason. 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? I prefer no OOC drama, so yes I acknowledge and understand that. Being polite and civil all the time as opposed to that which often invites the worse kind of emotions or involves yelling or otherwise crying uncontrolably in a vent/mumble/teamspeak is far better than not having the later of the two. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. Haven't left a guild yet, The Duchy, Ashenfold, the Freelancer's and Noble Rogues. All of them have been extremly good to me and I expect to do the same. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy. To be honest? A bit of a Noble-House like role play with some ass kicking tossed in every now and things to keep things colorful. Maybe some subterfuge scattered in there. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy: I'd hope to bring a new feeling of barbarianism, muscle and freelancer appeal. Svlen is a berserker who cannot control his rage, as the name berserker implies. Though the depth of that inability goes far deeper than him slipping into a rather bad tantrum and hitting a few things. With that said, I'd really like to get the sense of having an nigh-unstoppable force being held in check by those with significant power. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application. I think I'll use all of them at one point or another, likely sticking with my main, Svlen, more often than not. 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both? Svlen is a warrior, freelancer. Svagg is a hunter of the Iron Legion, a rather small Charr for his race. Kalem is a necromancer, a bartender and local shop owner. All of them are a mixture of fighters and crafters. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy?(Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian) Combat, likely strictly combat. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender. Svlen is male, Norn, the age of Norn hasn't been set and seems to vary by accounts but if I had to I'd say between 70-80. As they can live to be 120 and be quite healthy. He's around 9'3 and 600lbs easy. Svlen always wears his armor and there are often the fewest of times when he'll be caught wearing clothing. His color of choice for the armor is iron with an antique bronze finish on the ornate designs carved into the metal. It's well fitted and works for his person quite well being he's a berserker and has not need for full-body plates. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. I'll take a direct quote from the his story-arc. Having a mother and father like all Norn do his parents remain unamed as of now. No sibilings to speak of or that he himself knows of. He was born in Hoelbrak and had a handle of childhood friends growing up. Svlen is currently alive and kicking, though he is always facing trouble given his unique line of work as a freelancer. The best summary I can give is the quote from his story I wrote up, an even basic summary would be that he simply can't control himself. Choose to read the quote of you'd like. "Do this for me, for my and my House and I shall end your service to me Norn.. Fail me and you'll soon find that there are far worse things than death!" It's what Svlen had been hearing everyday since he left the northern encampment in the Snowdown Drifts, he had remembered the human's face well enough to know that one day he'd find and kill him and make an example of the old fool before his 'House'. House, now there was a word burned into his skull, his whole purpose for being in Divinity's Reach, he was the 'Champion' of House Lightheart. A Norn was to fight a Human of the rival house, that to him did not appeal to his sense of honor or code of morals. He wasn't being paid to care or to aruge, he was paid to kill the champion oh House Morarti and then turn his blade upon the rest of the house and he planned on carrying out this task for the price of freedom is often paid in blood. Light. Suddenly there was light, a bright blistering light that kept him from opening his eyes all the way. Svlen shook his head, had he been sleeping or drifiting off? It was in the middle of the day, surely he couldn't haven fallen asleep right before the match? No, for he was standing and fully clad in his battle armor with sword in hand! His mouth had been filled with the taste of blood and a hot blistering warmth was felt all over his chest. What was he feeling? Disoriented and nauseous he stumbled forward with narrowed eyes, trying to find out where he was and how he had gotten there. All at once his vision cleared and he could see again and before him was the butchered body of the son of the Lady of House Morarti! The Norn looked around in a sudden panic, he reached for his head to pull free his helm which he found wasn't there. Why hadn't felt before, or seen the metal interior?! His breathing quickened as he saw to his horror the utter masacere that had apparently taken place in his immediate area that was a pitt. He had gone to the fight. He had won. He had however, gone mad and killed more than he had hoped. Bodies of family to the butchered boy before him were in their seat's and all across the pitt's field and in the stands. Now all he had to do was figure out how he had done it.. He'd have to figure it another time though, such a masacre couldn't have gone on without some slipping out or drawing the attention of the guards. Though, he had not a clue as to where or if he was for a fact in Divinity's Reach at all. The Norn looked around once more, finding segments of his armor which he promptly collected along with his greatsword, making his way to whatever exit he could find. Breaking his way through an otherwise 'closed' door, he made his way down a dimly lit hallway which led out and up into the upper ring. There he found something of an exit which led out of the circular room and onto the street's of a marvelous city with high reaching towers and crowded sidewalks with foreigern's from all over Tyria wandering about from cart to cart, street to street. Svlen immediatly threw on his helmet and what armor he could manage before he tried to blend in, taking a right and then a left and then another left. The Norn lost himself in the hustle and bustle of this city of which he knew not of or to which nation it belonged. It did not take long to figure it out however, for soon he was approached by a man in a black robe with gold trim. "You did well, Norn. The Lord is pleased and you have your freedom, you did far more than we wanted but that cannot be changed. The past is in the past, the rather near past that is." Shrouded face, dark intentions and the only thing Svlen could see was a smirk. It was all he needed to know though, that he was done with House Morati and House Lightheart. The 'fued' had been ended and so did his service. It was now, as unfortunate as it seemed to him.. Up to -HIM- to yet again find service elsewhere. This city, this new life of his, it is all he had ever known and likely all he ever would.. " 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation. Bad, borderline grey. Svlen may have a gentle-giant appeal with how simple he sounds and acts, but when he slips into his trance/rage he doesn't know friend from foe and will slaughter(or try, in all RP respect) everything he sees. The best situation was the event tat took place recently, he sacked an entire village and nearly killed those who came after him only to help him.
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind. The plot assitance was given by Grotte, the character reached out to Svlen and they seem to have bonded quite well enough to say they are rather good friends. This will be a joint work! Svlen's joining story was the event that took place in Applenook outside of Lion's Arch. A little DnD styled event that fleshed out his inability to control his rage. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. He likes to spend his spare time crafting wooden toys, totems. Listening to music and watching caterpillars crawl around. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?Changes rather quickly, he can be loud and happy qo quiet and brooding. Generally quiet, except for gruntings. Gotta' have the grunting. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.) The Queen Jennah bit made me rofl. You mean to say I can't summon up the image of a full-sized Kralkatorrik? And yes I fully understand that, a character must have flaw to be real. 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know? I'm a ginger.

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?SimonTravers, and not really, though I heard about the guild through Bakshibaal Ryva. 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?I think I'd say I'm a veteran. I've been roleplaying here and there for about ten years. I've done forum rp, chat programs, other MMOs. Most recently I played WoW, and that lasted two or three years I think. I played the first Guild Wars for a little while, so I'm vaguely familiar with the lore, but I'm enjoying reading up on everything I've missed. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying:5 PvE (dungeons, general):5 PvP (World vs. World):4 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams):3 Crafting:3 Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?I think roleplaying is a great way to make the grinding go faster, or a fun way to just chill when you don't feel like questing anymore. I like being able to tell stories and make friends in a way you aren't always able to in non-RP situations. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? I'm on CST, and I'm a working stiff, so I'll generally be online after 6-7p.m. on weekdays and anytime on weekends. 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?Depends. Sometimes all I want to do is play, and sometimes I want to do other stuff, so I might not be around every day. I've really been enjoying this game though, so I'll probably show up most of the time. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?I might be interested in hosting, if it was the right kind of thing. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?I dig it. It's no good when guilds are too inclusive and take on a "I've been here longer so I'm better than you" mentality. I think everyone who wants be be included and makes an effort to include themselves should be included. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? I'm fond of four and seven, personally, but I think pi is pretty cool academically. 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? It's the best kind of policy to have. It's just a game; take it seriously if you want to, but it shouldn't be having a negative effect on your life. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. The last guild I really took part in was on Warcraft. It was a good group of people, some of whom I still keep in touch with, and I had a good time with them for over a year. It was role-play based, and I think we had a cool concept, but it all kind of fell apart when the people in charge decided they cared more about raiding with bigger guilds and getting sweet gear than roleplaying and hanging out with the people in their own guild. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.I'd like to be part of a group of friendly, mature people. I know most guilds advertise being mature and friendly, but it's rare that that's actually true. I'm just looking to make a few friends, have some good times, and enjoy the game. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. My charming wit. I don't know. I think I'm a pretty good roleplayer, and I like to try and inject humour into situations. I try to be friendly OOC, and I'm always willing to help out if I can. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.Simon Travers is pretty much the only character I'm seriously playing right now. 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?Simon is an Elementalist who favours fire and daggers. Sometimes he makes jewelry out of the gems his brother finds and doesn't need, but mostly he focuses on whatever odd jobs they can get together, which are frequently more fight-based. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)I think Simon would fit in very well with the scholarly types, but honestly he's just as likely to join the militia if the pay is better. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender.Simon is a twenty-six year old human man. He's quite tall, and slender, with orange-red hair cut short and neat, blue eyes, and a bit of subble on his face--though it's more likely this is because he forgot to do anything about it raher than an attempt at manliness. He's reasonably handsome, though probably not as handsome as he thinks he is. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.Simon and his twin brother, Owen, grew up in the orphanage in the Salma district of Divinity's Reach. They took to street crime quickly--picking pockets, stealing from market stalls. They rarely started fights, but were keen to finish them, especially if one of their fellow orphans was being assaulted or bullied. Simon is slightly more reserved than his brother, but he likes to make conversation, and he's curious about things outside of his scope of experience, which is rather narrow concerning things outside of the city. He's a decently talented Elementalist who and frequently uses his power for intimidation rather than actual harm. His life has been pretty unremarkable up to this point--he's just been trying to get by along with his brother. Currently, they're renting a couple of beds in the attic of the tavern in the Salma district and working up to the hope of affording a room with a door. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.I think that Simon is "morally grey leaning towards good." Simon and Owen have been known to get their hands dirty for a meal, and they can't say they've never mugged someone in an alley because they thought they were dressed too nicely for the area. But they're still in poverty despite their potentially lucrative activities because they funnel most of their money back into the orphanage with the hope that the next batch of unfortunates won't have to do the things that they do. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.Divinity's Reach hasn't been exceptionally kind to the twins. They don't have any real skills other than violence and crime, but they're interested in making good for themselves. If they can do that in the Duchy, they'll gladly do it given the chance. This will be a joint work!I'm not sure. Simon and Owen have already met Bakshibaal and Kaardorf over some beers, and that seemed to go well. At this point in their lives I don't think they've been out doing very much adventuring, so unless somebody's getting mugged and can't do anything about it themselves, nothing pops to mind except drinking, which they do a lot of. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Simon is incurably curious. He sometimes comes off as pushy or eccentric because he's been known to bombard strangers with questions, especially people of other races. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Naive? Quiet?Simon is generally friendly and kind in social settings. He has a hopeful outlook for the future despite his perpetual downtrodden state. When it's time to work, especially if that work is unsavoury, he does his best to put on the proper face and do what's required of him. He knows he isn't much good to his brother if he can't focus and get things done, and he never wants to disappoint his brother. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)Absolutely. This is right up there with the no-OOC-drama rule for me. What fun is it if people do stuff like this? 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know? Not that comes to mind, nope. |

| OOC Portion
1 ) What's your forum/@handle?
Owen Travers / @cheekymonkey
2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?
I'd say I'm a veteran of roleplay, I've rped in various MUDs and MMOs for the past 9 or 10 years. As far as Guild Wars lore, I'm a bit fuzzy, but the wiki is making it easy to learn as I go.
3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)
Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 4 PvP (World vs. World): 3 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams):3 Crafting: 3
Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?
I enjoy grinding as much as the next guy but RP is a great way to play and not have to focus as readily. I also really like that you can meet great people while you RP.
4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone?
I'm central so usually evenings during the week and I'm available during the weekend most of the day. Especially if I have something specific to be on for during the weekend
5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?
I think it kind of varies. I'm enjoying this game and play it fairly regularly now. But some days I'd rather do other things. I'm very much liking this game like I said, so I expect to be here regularly.
6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?
I'd maybe enjoy something like that depending on the context.
7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?
I very much enjoy the idea of OOC and IC involvement. It helps a guild stick together if they talk at least semi frequently OOC. And guild improvement based solely on time spent in guild is silly. This way makes more sense to me.
8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why?
I actually kind of hate math beyond that used for basic everyday skills but I've always been partial to 10. It was my hockey jersey number as a kid and my name starts with a J. Just always fit.
9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy?
I do, and it works for me.
10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked.
The last guild I was in had some great camaraderie at first. Eventually when people stopped roleplaying the group dispersed and we essentially stopped playing together. I really enjoyed the period where we played together and chatted over vent. It was a great way to build a semi community with the OOC communication to go with the in game RP.
11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.
I'm hoping I can meet like minded people who I can enjoy RPing and generally playing the game with.
12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy.
As a semi experienced roleplayer, I like to think I bring that to the table. Mmm my axe?! Seriously, just another mature player who enjoys roleplay and generally fun game play.
IC Portion
1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.
Owen Travers. I don’t really have any active alts.
2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?
Owen is a warrior, but as far as career he's kind of a criminal I think. Along with his brother they regularly mug people and sometimes take jobs that are not exactly on the up and up. As far as crafting goes, Owen is a semi accomplished armoursmith. He sometimes uses his skill to melt down stolen goods and make legitimate ones to cover the twins tracks. Even when not doing less than legal acts he enjoys engaging in smithing and has honed his craft for a number of years.
3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)
Owen is willing to fight; he'd probably make a good guard due to his knowledge of less than legitimate revenue options. He'd be willing to work a forge, and exercise his more shady skills if it were required. In all honesty Owen has only two rules for a role he'd be willing to fill. He'll only work if he can get paid in some fashion, and he won't do any job where he can't have close contact with his brother. For all purposes they are a team in all things.
4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparant and real), race, and gender.
Owen is a 26 year old human male, and for the most part looks roughly his age. His hard life may make him look older but if it all, only slightly. He's very tall and regularly engages in activities to keep in shape. While muscular his build is not overly bulky. His red hair is shaved into a Mohawk and stylized with shaved designs on the sides. One of his eyes has a large scar on the socket. Dark scar tissue covers most of the eye and his viability in that eye is barely over 60%. He's got a bushy horseshoe mustache. Alas a muttonstache was not an option.
5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.
Owen and his brother were born in Divinity's Reach and as infants were left in an orphanage, where they spent most of their youth. They don't know who their parents are and they don't much care, either. As they got older they spent more and more time stealing to provide for themselves and the other orphans. Eventually they made money from taking jobs via less than legal channels. During adolescence Owen and Simon got into a bar fight during one of the many drinking sessions they have grown accustom to taking part in. Owen was shoved by a rowdy customer and one thing led to another and a large brawl took place. The twins made it out fine, save a large gash from a bottle which was slashed and then thrust against his eye.
6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.
I'd consider Owen to be morally grey with some hints towards good. He regularly mugs wealthy nobles and steals from docks, homes, etc. Owen has a general distrust of nobility and is quick to mistrust anyone raised wealthy. On the other hand, Owen and his brother donate a large portion of their income to the orphans at the home they spent some of their youth hoping that the next generation won't have to do what they did to get by.
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.
They have been approached already, but for the most part Owen and his brother will do just about anything if it pays. Having a full stomach and a roof over their head is pretty high on the list of things to do.
This will be a joint work!
Well Owen and his brother already met Bakshibaal Ryva in a bar. Owen and his brother regularly drink at bars and they happened to have a decent conversation.
9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character.
Owen is, for lack of a better term, a career criminal. He'd do just about anything to protect his brother and help keep them fed and safe. For all his violent tendencies he is infinitely loyal and trusting of his brother.
10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?
Owen is generally a pretty extroverted character. He likes talking about himself, and he likes to portray himself as carefree. While he enjoys flirting and the general company of others he's extremely distrusful of anyone not his brother. He's not quick to anger, but any harm verbal or otherwise towards his sibling sets him off without reservation.
11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)
I do, I mean Batman is the coolest and all but I understand.
12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?
Not that comes to mind. |

| 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Morwynne @Superdupertavia
2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore? I'm a veteran roleplayer. I have been actively roleplaying since I was little and started exploring the game world of Ultima Online.
3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much) Roleplaying: 4 PvE (dungeons, general): 4 PvP (World vs. World): 5 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 4 Crafting: 5
Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite? I enjoy the challenging aspect of pvp as much as the predictable and rewarding element of crafting. Roleplay is usually tied into those things as much as one can if the crowd is right. My character's choices through their personal story reflect that.
4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? Usually after 5PM (PST) depending on work. When I'm working, I'm on call past 5PM, so it can be unpredictable.
5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not? Gaming is my hobby. If I'm home and have nothing else to do I'll be on the computer and online.
6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works? If given the right oppurtunity I would.
7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system? It makes sense. I've never been an advocate for OOC leadership without IC cause.
8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? 3. Because.
9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes.
10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. I am in a guild called the Noble Rogues. It's a group of friends who've joined up from multiple games to roleplay in Guild Wars 2. I like that it's people I know and am comfortable with and that generally speaking everyone in it is a solid roleplayer. Things I disliked I don't feel a need to really delve into, none of them are major issues and it doesn't really do anyone much good to nit pick at the small details. Prior to that the last real guild I've been a part of was the Raven Cross in World of Warcraft and Death and Debauchery in AOC. They both had positive elements but inactivity or in house manipulation and malicious behaviour led to their demise.
11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy. I'd like to find a group of roleplayers who understand the concept of give and take. People who won't go out of their way to make themselves look better, but rather appreciate the storytelling and efforts of the community and strive to make others look better. Then in turn have it reciprocated to them. I'm expecting to interact with mature people who's characters go beyond the social vanity and tavern RP that seems to be the mainstay for most people I meet. A tavern has it's place, but I don't personally enjoy it all the time.
12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. Good roleplay that isn't all about me.
IC Portion
1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application. Main: Morwynne Alts: I don't know yet.
2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both? Morwynne is a Norn, an adventurer, shamanistic fighter and Guardian who espouses the virtues and wisdom of the spirits in both her hunts and life, favoring Bear a great deal. She can work with metals or animal hides and bones to make weapons, armor, or gear but is by no means a specialist or skilled at crafting.
3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian) I don't know yet. I usually let character desire and interaction dictate where they'll end up.
4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparant and real), race, and gender. Morwynne is a young Norn, 28 years old and is among the tallest of her kin. Her musculature is well defined and athletic with a softer edge than her male counterparts.
5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. Morwin's family came from a homestead her father had founded. After the betrayal of her two brothers, turning to the worship of the Dragon as a spirit of the wild, she was driven out and went into self exile where she happened upon the township of Newport and came to it's defense against the Foxband, a group of thieves working with a circle of sinister and influential bands. Working with members of all the races, the Noble Rogues as they came to be known, she and they saved the town of Newport, traversed Tyria and finally ended the threat the circle represented in their mad and still mysterious goals. Killing her brothers in the journey, Morwynne was finally able to stomach returning to Hoelbrak despite the fact that the Sons of Svanir were welcome and began her life as an explorer and hunter until the leader of the Noble Rogues sent her a missive to reform the band. While she had accepted this, she finds that goals and personalities have drifted apart since their time together years ago. Though she still counts them among her allies, she wonders what else is out there.
6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation. Morwynne is a 'good guy' with elements that others might consider morally grey or bad. She has a personal code that dictates how she ought to act and accepts that circumstances and intentions can change things. Her pragmatism led her to leave an elementalist to her fate against a band of Grawl that the woman had antagonized stating that one's choices need to measure up with one's strength, without the ability to hold accountability for our own actions we invite consequence onto others.
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind. I would need plot assistance. She's an adventurer, a Norn of wanderlust, and usually willing to help. That could easily lend itself to a temporary or re-occuring association. But more? I'm not sure yet. Something to feel out.
This will be a joint work! Something to collaberate on. Hopefully something to benefit or 'make cool' everyone involved.
9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. She is exceptionally strong, even for a Norn. Bear has smiled greatly upon her and she tends to view her strength as her most important quality, sometimes shunning other aspects of herself or looking down upon them.
10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet? For a Norn, she's quiet. Morwynne believes that boasting doesn't do anyone any good unless it's from the lips of another. If no one else is singing your praises than you're just wasting your breath. Actions speak louder than words seems to be a mantra she lives by, pragmatic and spartan in her dealings and relationships.
If a voice server is utilized it should be made aware that I am mute in real life. I'm not sensitive about it. I just don't like feeling ignored or overlooked.

What are your thoughts on this system?Fine by me. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? 42, because it is memetically cultural now, I guess. Ask a joke question, get a joke answer. 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. A heavy role-playing guild on the smaller size in a previous online game. Everyone was pleasant and vocal and active in events both role-playing and assisting each other in PvE. I disliked when it ended. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.I'll hope that you don't twist in the wind and crumble under dramatic venom like previous experiences. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy.Eventually, something useful. (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)Combative, crafting or some such roles. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. But not evident for face chooses in character creation. Sorry. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.Caste - Commoner/Undesirable. Parents - Unknown. Siblings - Brother. Deceased. Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.Grey. Janissu acts as she feels strongest. No significantly interesting events thought of. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.Janissu always lacked cause or community, which could make any plot assistance relatively simple to do so. 8 ) Following the above question, each character will have a unique 'joining story' RPed out for their induction into the Duchy. This might be a chance encounter in the wild, where members of the Duchy teamed up with/saved/were saved by your character, or a swapping of stories over ale. | 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?
Can be found in Guild Wars 2 as Casinthelion.5742, on the forums as Kaitlynn Hathorn. I found your post on GW2RP and followed it from there.
2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?
Veteran roleplayer, of 7 years, I've roleplayed in Runescape (I know, horrid), Guild Wars 1, Lord of the Rings Online, Star Trek Online, and most recently Guild Wars 2. Also a very avid D&D player. My familiarity with the GW2 lore isn't as strong as I'd like it to be, but I'm very strong in the GW1 lore, and I read up on as much as I can, so hopefully I become as strong in the GW2 lore as I'd like very soon.
3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much) Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 5 PvP (World vs. World): 1 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 1 Crafting: 3
Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?
I love roleplaying, and have been roleplaying in MMOs for over 7 years. I've always been a huge fan of the PvE side of any game, and I have never liked the PvP side.
4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone?
I'm in the Central US timezone, and I get on whenever I can, to be honest.
5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?
Very un-casual. I'm on whenever I have a free moment.
6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?
Both. I love watching how other people construct storylines and events, and participating in them. I also find that running my own events is a great way to pick up constructive criticism.
7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?
I wish more guilds did it this way.
8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why?
Pi. Because the cake is a lie.
9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy?
I do, and I tend to look for this rule before I move forward in a guild application process.
10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked.
Founded a Seraph RP guild on Tarnished Coast. Loved the people, hated the RP. Ended up leaving due to IC drama that crossed over into OOC.
11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.
I'm just looking for a great group of people, both IC and OOC.
12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy.
I'd like to think that I'm a good roleplayer, not the best, but not the worst, and I hope that I can help advance any storylines in a positive manner.
IC Portion
1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.
Main - Kaitlynn Hathorn
2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?
Kaitlynn Hathorn is a teacher, of Ancient & Modern History, as well as Basics of Elemental Magic. When she must fight, she fights as a Elementalist, making great use of the elements of Fire and Air.
3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)
Any academic role, such as a teacher, researcher, librarian.
4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender.
Kaitlynn is what most people would condier petite, only coming up to 5'4", and maintaining a very slim figure, barely weighing in at 104lb. Her skin is slightly pale, a result of spending most of her time indoors in libraries or classrooms. Herhair is a rich brown, braided into a ponytail that rests down the length of her neck. Her facial structure is primarily Krytan, with a slim nose, and narrow chin, with brown eyes peeking out from under modest eyebrows.
5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.
Kaitlynn was born to a well-to-do minor noble family of Kryta, the middle of 5 children. Her family was rich enough to get her private tutors, but not so rich that they're well-known around the city. She showed aptitude for magic at an early age, and quickly picked up a variety of skills in the field of Elemental Magic. She is stronger in Fire and Air then Water and Earth, but can use all four to some degree. However, this magical ability led her being teased by other children her age, which led to her semi-antisocial behavior. Her love for children was fostered by her siblings, as even though she was the middle child, she took care of her younger siblings more than her parents or older siblings did. Other than that, Kait's led a very boring life, nothing special has happened to her. She can't even find a good job as a teacher in the city, all things considered. But in today's times, that all may change soon...
6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.
Good guy. Even while being socially distant, Kaitlynn does know the different between right and wrong, and supports all law-enforcing and country-defending groups to the fullest. Kaitlynn once witnessed a group of older children picking on a younger child, who then pulled a knife in self-defense, in view of the Seraph. A Seraph tried to arrest the younger child. Even at the risk of a nervous breakdown, Kaitlynn walked over and explained the situation to the Seraph, who then proceeded to haul the group of older bullies away.
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.
This will be a joint work!
A academic situation would work best, as she's a teacher, and not a very social person.
9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character.
10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?
Kaitlynn is typically a cool, distant person, preferring the company of her books to other people. Displays of emotion are rare and normally small. There are two notable exceptions to this rule. When around children, she becomes much nicer than normal, almost a completely different person, and is FAR more protective. The other exception is when she's angry. Her calm exterior is replaced, rather quickly, with a look of rage. Electricity can frequently be seen arcing from her temples when she's this off-balance - when she's not shooting it at whatever caused her to be so upset. Needless to say, Angry Kait is a Kait you don't want to be around. Thankfully, the only things that get her this mad very quickly are attacks towards children or her students... when she has students.
11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)
Completely, and I usually slam my face into the nearest hard object when I see one.
12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?
Major coffee addict. That is all.

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?PoorJSP.3185 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?I have been Role Playing since I was 9 years old when our family got a desktop PC in the 90s. I have been Role Playing on and off since then through a few different ways. Web forums and chat rooms, video games, and sometimes table-top (A longer while ago from now.) I enjoy RPing and I consider myself ample for it, otherwise I am not at all familiar with Guild Wars, it's lore, or much more about it as I am an entirely new player. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 4 PvE (dungeons, general): 4 PvP (World vs. World): 4 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 4 Crafting: 5 Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?I enjoy gathering and professions for the money >B) 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? I can be online usually after 3 or 7 otherwise I have off on Wednesdays and Thursdays where I am usually loafing around online 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?I would have to be considered a casual. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?I would love to host events. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?I think it's fine. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? 10 because it sounds very official to me. 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes, I do. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. I am still in a Guild on WoW called "Stimulus" and I enjoy it muchly for the fact that I can just do as I please, it is a zerg Guild however and nothing more. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.I want to have fun. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. Some vivid colors and plenty of monkets. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.I haven't made my Toon yet, I am still installing the client! 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?None yet. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)My Toon hopefully will be able to perform a versatile role in the Guild. I enjoy doing many things and often I will try to do them at once. I find that I am much better at what I am doing the more of it I can do and the more varied of what it is I am doing. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender. This is a work in progress. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. This is also a work in progress. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.I'd consider him to be mucking around in the grey area, though he'll stray to make a "bad" mistake now and again. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind. He's looking for a place where he can feel wanted and make some friends. This will be a joint work!Sure! He'll for sure know one of your Guildmates, Sebastian Blackwell. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet? He is a spectrum of feelings and traits that primarily include high contrast. A high-strung nerve wreck with unlimited attention but little focus, his out going personality tends to clash with the toil of conflict he has for himself in a constant head-butting with every choice he tries to make, and he often enjoys time to himself but quickly longs for company. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)Yes, I do. 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?I am scared of mirrors and heights. My favorite food is seafood salad. My favorite color is purple. |

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?Lyssa Stormchaser @Infatum.2481 Met members of the IDC in game and joined in a bit of RP which was a lot of fun. 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?I have done a lot of RP in other games both pen and paper and online over the years. Briefly played GW1 but never got into it since the community seemed rather inaccessible, since joining GW2 I've been voraciously gobbling up lore since I love learning about that sort of stuff, but I'm still learning to say the least. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 5PvE (dungeons, general): 4PvP (World vs. World): 4PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 3Crafting: 2Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite? In my experience PvE and even PvP can get dull over time, but RP adds constant new flair and interest to a game which bleeds into all its other parts. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? I am on the west coast of US so PST. I'm usually online throughout the day as I work from home and I'm a bit of a slacker 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?I'm on more often than I probably should be. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?Generally prefer to enjoy other people's work, but it would depend entirely on what IC possibilities came up, I wouldn't shirk away from running something, but I wouldn't actively seek an excuse to do so. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?Sounds great. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? 3,478,134 I think my reasons are self evident. 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Absolutely. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. It's been a while since I've actively joined a guild, but the last time I was part of an in game group I really liked the accessibility of RP minded people, but disliked when drama would bleed into OOC and become personal for people. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.I'm hoping for an active inclusive RP community to have fun with. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. My charm, wit and if necessary I have been known to actually do something useful from time to time. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.Lyssa Stormchaser Unfortunately the character I was playing when I first met IDC was part of a long line of failed attempts at finding a Main I liked. Lys is sort of a remake of them, but without the constant "Might makes me right" and feeling like some sort of giantess when fighting bandits. 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?OOC: Ranger IC: Works as a caravan guide mostly and takes a lot of pleasure in traveling to faraway places. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)Scout, guide or hunter, but depends on where the IC winds blow. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender.Lys is a short and somewhat stocky human woman in her early twenties (Real age: 23). She has long dark red hair that is often full of burrs and tangles, bright green eyes that are easy and relaxed and sun-browned skin dotted with the occasional small faint scar here and there from a childhood full of scrapes, bruises and lacking medical services. She is pretty in a rustic way, and despite often being traveling and in the rough she makes a point of trying to keep up with the latest Krytan fashions as best her lifestyle will allow. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. From her impoverished refugee parents, Lyssa was given her first name to honor the goddess and perhaps catch some cast off flecks of her divinity like so many poor superstitious parents hope to do. All it caught was the rest of the gifts they had for her and her sister: broken promises, shattered hopes and many scars, each with a sad story. When she fled and left her family behind the children of the streets, her new family, gave her the second name: Stormchaser. This name promised freedom as she ran along the slick rooftops of Divinity's Reach, but as each rain passed it never truly washed away every memory or regret. Fleeing second time she left the city entirely and found a new family in those without a home traveling from place to place with the caravans. A grizzled old guide gave her the third name: Friend. Which unlike the others brought with it many gifts of knowledge, experience and trust. Most importantly though her mentor showed her she did not need to run any longer, and so when his time came and he passed away quietly one night she realized she was finally now in control of her life. She traveled everywhere she could, exploring the vastness of Tyria and taking in all it had to offer. She took no new names for herself, but instead learned the many names of others. The Norn spoke of the names of the spirits, the Charr taught her the names of machines and metal, the Sylvari reavealed the hidden names of trees and rivers, and the Kodan showed her how to listen for the names of birds and beasts. She did not realize throughout all of this that she was searching for something, and there in the frozen snows, listening for the names of the animals prowling the dark, she was found by what she sought. A great wolf-bear who spoke his name to her and has never left her side since. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.Lys is largely a good person, but she does sometimes take a more primal/pragmatic view on things, and views some overly altruistic people as too naïve. A hard life combined with a lot of time in the wild have contributed to this, but she has also taken bits and pieces from various philosophies she's encountered in her travels. On several occasions she has chosen to abandon lost members of a caravan rather than risk the entire group to significant threats be it blizzards or bandits. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.Everyone needs a home, and Lys has been quietly searching for one throughout all this time. This will be a joint work! The best I could see would be Lys being hired as a guide for some other event, which would give opportunities for shared battle and hardship that might lead to a more permanent position being offered. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Lys believes she is an amazing cook. She is not. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?Lys is usually a bit pessimistic and sarcastic, often sounding more like some jaded soldier than a young woman. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)Yes. I chose Lyssa as a name for the same reasons many christian religious families in the world choose to name their sons Jesus or hindus go for Krishna (It's a rather common phenomenon in polytheistic cultures). I have the amused thought that many courtesans in Divinity's Reach probably go by “Lyssa” which makes Lys all the more reluctant to ever use her full name despite how common of a name it would likely be in such a religious culture as Kryta. Power level wise she's your average caravan guide with a few nifty tricks she's picked up in her travels and is all too often reminded of her own limitations. 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?Your application is very thorough and took me the better part of an evening to fill out. | OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?Moonsquall @Krystal Black.5863 Was invited after a very enjoyable RP session with a few of IDC's members. 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?I'm a veteran roleplayer. I've been roleplaying in table-top RPG's for 14 years, and roleplaying in MMO's since everquest. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying:5 PvE (dungeons, general):5 PvP (World vs. World):4 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams):1 Crafting:3 Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite?I enjoy my RP on the go. I love the RP that goes along with a group of players that have a mutual in game goal (quest/dungeon). I won't say no to a good stint of tavern RP, but that usually goes best when had after an accomplished task. 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? My timezone is PST (US west coast), and I am online sporadically throughout the day, and can usually make larger commitments of time in the early afternoon/evening. 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?Definitely not a casual player, I play very often. Real life comes first, so I'm not always available to commit to long play sessions, but playing all day isn't unheard of as I don't have much of a life. 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?I'm usually a wallflower, enjoying the atmosphere of a scene created by others, participating when I think I have something useful to contribute. I have been known to have my own stories in the past though. 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system? The system of advancement in this guild, seems to me, very similar to the way most guilds function, just with more structure than most. More structure can be intimidating, but in the end it prevents favoritism and offers clear goals for people who want to obtain more responsibility. 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? 9,999 because when they started letting you deal more damage than this, it just got excessive. 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes. 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. The last guild(supergroup) I was in was one from City of Heroes. It was sort of like a school for gifted individuals, like the x-men. That sort of atmosphere is welcoming and humble, and I very much enjoyed it as a "slice of life" in a world of super powers. The thing that bothered me, was that that is often not good enough for some people. They have to be an alien from a different dimension, or a demon from the netherworld, each of them enraptured with their own stories that they've created novels of that have no correlation with in-game lore and events, often to the exclusion of all else. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy.I hope to find and easy going group of friends to adventure with and share the challenges and experiences of this game with, as well as participating in an on-going and constantly evolving story told by everyone in the guild. 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy.I'm a friendly person by nature, and a competent player. I hope to be a useful teammate to stand beside, as well as a warm smile and an easy laugh. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.Moonsquall - main 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?Shandra is struggling to apply her talents in a legal manner, going by the handle Moonsquall(Thief). She has played many roles; A witty courtier, a nimble scout, a deadly dagger dancer, and when necessary, a silent thief. In general, her skills in deception and infiltration are used for the good of her city, Divinity's Reach, and for the benefit of allied countries as well. 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)Moon fits best as a citizen, posing as a courtier of a noble house in modest standing, and occasionally called upon to use her skills to gather information, be it scouting or stealing. While combat is not her strong suit, she can hold her own in a scrap. 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender.Moon is tall human woman, age 20, with a youthful appearance. She has long sandy blonde hair, and lively light brown eyes. She has pinkish pale skin, with just a hint of a tan, and soft, silky features. Her clothes are of finer fabrics, silks and wools, and always at the cutting edge of Krytan fashion. In court her speech and manner are those of the nobility, but on the road and among friends, she is easy going and friendly, with a kind heart, and always with a whimsical smirk on her lips. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.A girl of common birth, Shandra grew up in an orphanage, and developed a talent for mischief at an early age. Her favorite past time was escaping the orphanage and climbing the cities walls, her second being people watching from the high places she could get to. She often found herself spying on noble dinner parties, listening to court intrigue, and at times stealing unattended clothing she liked. She spied on the common people as well, though not as often. The shadowed alleys and dark streets were less interesting to her, but housed many useful things. Before she was even a woman grown, she could speak like a courtier, and titter like a high born maiden. She also knew every fence in the Reach, and every guard patrol by heart. There are no fairy tales, and all thieves, no matter what their skill, get caught. The same was true for little Shandra, and when confronted with a cell to wither away in, she brokered a deal with the Seraph, to help them bring down the criminal organization the claimed their streets at night in exchange for her freedom. After that, Shandra began traveling, and found there were many that could make use of her talents legally. She traveled to the ancient ruins of Ascalon, and snowy drifts in the shadow of the shiverpeak mountains, making friends and contacts all along the way. Still, she missed the rolling hills of Kryta and the bustling city streets that were home to her. But her city would only offer old memories, old blood. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.Moonsquall is generally a morally good person. If there is one thing she has a soft spot for, it is innocent children, even her enemies'. Once on a scouting mission, she was sent to find a suspected centaur encampment in the Harathi Hinterlands. When she found it to be full of refugee centaur children, and realized the soldiers were using it to help children away from the fields of battle, she gave her commanding officer deliberate misdirection on it's whereabouts, preferring to betray her comrades than to subject those children to what would likely be brutal human prejudice. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.Moon has been looking to make a fresh start in her travels, but misses the political intrigue of her old life. Unfortunately, in this time of war, her skills in the field have been more in demand than her skills at court. Despite her common birth, she desires to be a diplomat or a master of whisperers for a great lord or lady. This will be a joint work!Moon has already had a chance encounter with Duchess Aislin, and would most likely wish to aid her in the reacquisition of her lands, in hopes of finding a place in her court. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Moon is a total gun nut. She can often be seen cleaning or fiddling with her custom Krytan 45 in her downtime. 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet?Moon has an easy going personality, never taking things too seriously, and often making light of a bad situation. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)Yes 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know? This application has been really extensive, getting me to think about my character a lot more than I usually do. | |

| 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? In GW2 I'm Vunguard.4732 and here I'm just Vunguard I was referred here by Casinthelion/Kaitlynn
2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore? I'm a veteran FORUM roleplayer, been foing it for... nearly 6 years I think. I'm fairly new to live and MMO RPing. As for GW2 lore, I've been good about picking up the details, but I never played GW1 so I'm not exactly an expert.
3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much) Roleplaying: 5 PvE (general): 5 PvE (dungeons): 4 PvP (World vs. World): 5 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 1 Crafting: 2
Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite? Generally, I really like the Roleplaying and the general adventuring (save Dredgehaunt), though lately I've had some bad luck outside of certain groups.
4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? Mixed weekdays, 900-1200 M,W. 1345-2200 T, Th. Weekends unsteady. Pacific Coast USA
5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not? I'm on pretty often, though sometimes college gets in the way, not always. Also, I'm a writer, so I'll usually get off if something comes to mind, though no ninja or bad-timing AFK's from me.
6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works? I'd be interested, though currently I'm GMing a Seraph-based guild that's having a little bit of trouble. If I come up with anything I'd be up for it.
7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system? Hey, makes sense and it works, who am I to argue? The more someone does the more they should be rewarded, that's how the real world should work.
8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? Pi, because it's hilarious to watch people rage over trigonometry while a pilot can handle it like they were asleep.
9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yes, Ja, Da, Ano, Si
10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. My last guild was Seraph Raven Company, which was a well set-up group with some good goals, we just wound up with a lot of unnecessary OOC drama, including a lot of rather out-of-left-field hate towards our previous GM. Eventually things spiralled out of control and the guild nearly self-destructed. I'm the GM for that one right now, and while we're doing better finally, I'm stressed and need a guild I can just shut off the stress and enjoy the RP. More than anything, we were a little TOO well organized, though that's more just the problem with military RP's on their own rather than anything of our fault. On the plus side, there were lots of mini-events, and if there was ever a strong suit in the guild it was our improvisation--we could literally take any world event or location and make it apply off the top of our heads. It really is rather entertaining to be able to play a more serious Who's Line.
11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy. Honestly, I hope for it to become a good, strong RP group with good members, good stories and characters, and all that pleasant stuff.
12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy. I just hope to bring a good, solid RPing experience and maybe any ideas I can contribute should they be needed. I'm a sci-fi writer, so I can get a little out there, but if that's what's needed I'll definitely be up to the challenge.
IC Portion
1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application. Main: Ulteia Ivarion "Teia" Alts: Io Emberrest, possibly others if something comes to mind.
2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both? Teia's a Necromancer, but she's also a fair scientist and alchemist who mainly works with various forms of healing and antidotes, as well as very skilled with specialty amulets (though they're necromatic so some may not like them). The main reason for her fighting abilities is because she's very frail, being a premature birth, and she uses necromancy to keep her alive, more than anything.
Io's a guardian, and if he joins he'll be a mercenary.
3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian) Hopefully Teia be a local scientist and alchemist. As for Io, probably a guard or something of the like.
4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparant and real), race, and gender. Ulteia is a human female 22 years old, very short and somewhat unhealthily thin, with pale white skin and white jaw-length hair, with grey eyes.
5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy. Ulteia was born the third child of a family in a small town near Lion's Arch, a peasant effectively though that wasn't really the important part. She was born at 36 weeks and barely survived infancy, and even after that she required near-constant attention from her parents and regular visits by a healer. As compensation for this, she was provided with countless books of varying types, ranging from simple poetry to magical theorems, though the vast majority only whet an appetite for information. Eventually her parents were unable to afford her upkeep AND her brothers', so she was shipped off to a family friend who supervised a rather expansive library. She became fairly well-acquainted with various theories of magic, but something that particularly caught her eye was the potential life-prolonging properties of necromancy. Curious, she experimented on a rabbit--it traumatized her, but when she discovered that she was no longer sick the next day (and indeed for the next two weeks), she realized that it had worked. Still, she vowed to keep her power under control, only using it as needed. Slowly she's began experimenting to find the beneficial side to necromancy and use her knowledge for the betterment of society, not just herself--though she can not deny that the temptation to find something for herself is ever-present.
6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation. Teia is primarily good, though she does tend to grey up the more ill she feels--she won't do anything that would be considered evil, but she does seem a good deal less friendly in that regard. One particular situation that seemed a little strange was one day that she was given a small amulet--clearly of necromancer design but seemingly benign. Upon experimenting with it a little, she found an untapped well of knowledge the likes of which she had never seen--however the amulet also recorded the methods that the knowledge was gained through. Unpleasant to put it mildly. After some thought, she decided to record what beneficial and non-hostile information it held and then destroyed it, not wanting the suffering of the people to be wasted nor wanting the amulet to be used by less benevolent forces.
7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind. She really has no reason to remain in Kryta, all of the information she needs is either already recorded by her own magical devices or sent off to other scientists, especially the Priory. Her help in the war has been somewhat limited due to her position, so when she finds out about the plight of the Duchy, she'll see it as something to do beyond remaining locked up in a library in fear of the sun all day.
This will be a joint work! I can see a couple things happening with Teia, beyond the aforementioned methods in the question. For one, she could actually be delivering some sort of book or amulet or some sort of scholarly device, and just get to talking with the recipient. Two, she could be hunted because some panicky fellow saw her minions and assumed she was up to something, and just wind up as one of those silly moments of "I was healing his sick cow" or something. Or, third, could have something similar where one of her minions went out scavenging and brought back something it shouldn't have, like someone's earring or a sword or something else of value--and have her try to return or be commanded to return it.
9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. Funny thing about Teia is that, due to her premature nature, beyond being frail she can't talk very well, she'll speak sure but getting her to normal volume is the equivalent of her yelling at the top of her lungs. Also, her minions' names are Bob, Jean, and Francis.
10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Naive? Quiet? Teia's going to be very quiet and a little reserved, though not quite shy. Typically she'll be in a fairly serene, pleasant mood, though if she's ill or something's managed to genuinely disrupt something important (takes a lot by the way) she may get a little snippy. Her sense of humor is almost entirely one-way, she's too blunt to really tell jokes.
Beware, drillhead is watching you wahaha~

| OOC Portion 1 ) What's your forum/@handle? Did anyone refer you?Character Name: Riptor Grimfire GW2 Tag: Visorix.7950 2 ) Are you a new or veteran roleplayer? What venues did you RP in previously? What's your familiarity with GW2 lore?Veteran, been RPing for about 13 years, in chat rooms, various MMOs (WoW, EQ, FFXI, SWTOR to name a few). I've done well fitting into settings. I've also been in charge of a few guilds RP events (RP officer) so I've been on both sides of being part of RPs as well as design events. 3 ) What are your interests in Guild Wars 2? (Rated as 1 - 5, with 1 very little and 5 very much)Roleplaying: 5 PvE (dungeons, general): 5 PvP (World vs. World): 5 PvP (5 vs 5/Teams): 2 Crafting: 3 Why is your favorite aspect (above) your favorite? It'd have to be a tie between RP and WvW. WvW when I wish to enjoy the gameplay and RP for my creative needs 4 ) When can you usually be online, in what time zone? I play EST, I am busy during the evenings of Tues-Thurs but each day beyond those I'm quite free, including having Mondays off from school during the day 5 ) Do you consider yourself a casual player, or are you on more often than not?I'm not as hardcore as some but I'm on quite alot I think 6 ) If given the opportunity, would you be interested in hosting events- RP or otherwise- or would you prefer to enjoy other peoples' works?I've done both and I enjoy both. But I think I enjoy RPing others stories more 7 ) Advancement in this guild is based on participation both OOC and IC, and members will need to roleplay to pick up more responsibility. What are your thoughts on this system?Makes sense. You can't say you participate in a guild like this without contributing in both RP and OOC. Doing one without the other seems to be missing part of the puzzle 8 ) What is the best number in all of mathematics, and why? 9, it's the number of my favourite hockey player, also when I push my fist and last intil over each other (S + J) it looks like a 9. My favourite goalie's number is 33, 3 x 3 is 9! When I played hockey I often played wearing 15, which was 9 + 6 (upside down 9).....yup! 9 ) Do you acknowledge and understand that we have a strict no-OOC-drama policy? Yup 10 ) Tell us a little bit about the last guild you were in- things you liked and disliked. Well tried doing a few other RP guilds here in GW2 and most either focused too much on RP or too much on OOC to keep my interest. Also I found they used vent channels and the like. My net doesn't do vent well so I chat best through typing. Issue is when everyones on vent or whatever, it seems very quiet and lonely to the person not in it. 11 ) Tell us what your expectations/hopes are for the Duchy. Some indepth RP, some fun and drama filled events (IC drama of course), Possibly making some friends for Riptor, etc etc 12 ) Tell us what you hope to bring to the Duchy.A highly skilled Charr Ranger who can peg oil cans from hundreds of yards back (teehee). But also my knowledge of how I've seen RP guilds prosper and fail in the apss. I'm happy to give my opinion and knowledge to make things work. I also hope just to help fill out the ranks to make things all the more enjoyable for everyone else. IC Portion 1 ) What character(s) do you intend to play as part of the Duchy? (Please give names as they appear in-game. Limit 3.) Please select one as your starting 'main' and indicate it as such. This can change later- just pick one for the sake of the application.Riptor Grimfire - Charr - Ranger 2 ) What is the occupation of all the above characters? Include IC profession (engineer, warrior, etc,) and career- are they strictly fighters or do they only craft? Or is it a combination of both?Ranger Ash Legion special Ops (GW2 version of a Black Ops operative) 3 ) What role do you hope they will fill within the Duchy? (Such as combat, town guard, craftsman, civilian)Combat, Guard, Assassinations of bothersome rivals, Things people don't need to know about.... 4 ) Please give us a brief visual description of your main. Include age (apparent and real), race, and gender.Tall (8'2') Male Charr. Apparent Age being late twenties to early thirties. Dark gree furr with black tiger like stripes. A mane of red hair on his head, and very long barbed horns. 5 ) What's your character's backstory, in summary? Include caste, parents/siblings, birthplace, notable events, current 'life status' upon IC interest in the Duchy.(Nutshelling it) Riptor was one of many cubs born of the same sire of high prestige and combat skill that were handpicked by the sire himself to offer to the Ash legion. He was one of six cubs in the Grim Warband, consisting of all Siblings. Two brothers; Kathor Grimtooth, Tarrick Grimstrike, and Three Sisters; Laika Grimheart, Jaiza Grimwords, Varess Grimsteel. The Highly skilled warband developed within the Ash Legion, and soon enough just after their teen years, they were Ash's 'goto' group for assassinations against the Ascalonians. During one mission Riptor hurt his ankle saving his brother Kathor, but the day was one, and they returned in success as they always seemed to do. Riptor was laid up when they were sent out for their next mission. They never returned. They are assumed Killed in Action Riptor didn't believe they were dead, to this day he doesn't. He has been labeled as a Gladium, a charr without a warband, where he still strongly believes he is part of the Grim Warband. He left the Ash legion and the Citadel and now travels Tyria hoping to find people who know of his siblings, or can help aid in searching for them. 6 ) Would you consider your character a 'good guy', a 'bad guy', or 'morally grey'? Why? Give us a situation your character has encountered that was 'morally interesting', and how they dealt with it. If the character is new, make up such a situation.Morally Grey for sure. He's an Assassin and feels no remorse for what he does. He does not take jobs blindly but he knows the people he kills will better the lives for those he is fighting for. For the most part Grim Warband's work was fighting the Ascalonian threat he wasn't killing many who weren't already dead. But once in awhile he was given tasks to kill members of the Flame Legion. One such time he was setting up as the team sniper. Knowing the target was too deep behind enemy lines to sneak in without causing alarm. They picked a time when the target would go far a walk with his cubs. Riptor took the shot, killing the target in front of his cubs. He had no regrets. He killed a bad man, and bed men sometimes have families, children and loved ones. 7 ) Why would your character join the Duchy? -- If you need plot assistance to convince them to do so, say so here, and what you have in mind.Resources in helping him find his warband. He knows not many Charr will help him being seen as a Gladium. He figures he can offer his skills and talents in exchange for help. This will be a joint work!Oh I like this. Getting so tired of the walking into a bar sorta thing and being "I saw you're looking for work" thing. What might be fun and would likely work is a possible situation where the Duchess or other nobility is attacked by political separatists, thieves, bandits, centaurs, some sort of group that doesn't care for the Duchy. Riptor luckily being near by, dispatches the threat, and then asks the ones he saved about if they've seen the ones he's looking for. Obviously not having seen them, the noble offers assistance in his quest in return for Riptor's 'services'. 9 ) Tell us one nifty, unique or semi-unique thing about your character. He's a Charr (Hah) No Seriously though. Being alone without his warband now, he can sometimes be found talking to Talon or Sliver, his two favoured pets. Actually have full on conversations with them 10 ) What's your character's general personality? Are they pessimistic and grouchy? Niave? Quiet? He's obviously damaged, sad, alone. Not really looking to make friends but likely the type that would being back in a social atmosphere. He tries to keep to himself but will likely be lured in to social events by his curiosity. 11 ) Do you understand that we do not accept characters from other IP works (No Batmans, no Luke Skywalkers) and we do not accept or tolerate characters without limitations/too high of a power threshold? (No DBZ combat, no Queen Jennahs.)I am not sure if I'd join if you did accept them 12 ) Anything else you feel we should know?I'm Canadian? |
